<Title>Online Leadership Challenge July 21 to August 13, 2020</Title>
<Tagline>What's a Leader?  Do you have what it takes to become one?</Tagline>

    <span>Retrievers!! We want YOU to take on the <em>Online Leadership Challenge</em>, which starts TODAY! Navigate the different paths to leadership, practice articulating your journey as a leader, and engage in meaningful discussions with other UMBC students. </span><div><br></div>
    <div>Challenge questions will be posted on the Campus Life Instagram (<a href="https://www.instagram.com/umbccampuslife/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">@umbccampuslife</a>) and <a href="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/osl" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">myUMBC page</a> every <strong>Tuesday</strong> and <strong>Thursday</strong> until August 13th. The student who accumulates the most points throughout the challenge will receive a <u>$50 UMBC Bookstore gift card</u>! The <em>Online Leadership Challenge</em> is dedicated to helping students reflect on the intersection of academics, personal experiences &amp; campus involvement to answer the question: <em>What is a leader? And what does leadership look like?</em>

    <div>Information regarding a scholarship that may be of interest to you is posted below. </div>

    <div>The Gowda Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to in-state students interested in pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, with preference given to residents of Prince George's County or students who graduated from a high school in the county. The scholarship will be merit based, although financial need may also be considered.</div>

    <p>The <a href="https://www.marforcyber.marines.mil/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">United States Marine Forces Cyberspace Command</a>
     is very interested in UMBC student talent for spring or summer 2021 
    interns.  If selected you will obtain Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented
     Information (SCI) clearance.  The internship would be in Fort Meade, 
    MD.  If interested, please complete the linked application document by August 3rd
     and send it to <a href="mailto:MARFORCYBER_G9_ENGINEERING@nsa.gov">MARFORCYBER_G9_ENGINEERING@nsa.gov</a></p>
    <p>Please note that a letter of recommendation is required.</p>
    
    <p><strong>Eligibility / How To Apply:    </strong></p>
    
    - Interns must be U.S. Citizens.  <br>
    
    - Interns shall be high performing students majoring (or minoring) in computer science.  <br>
    
    - Interns shall provide a letter of recommendation from a Professor in the computer science department.   <br>
    
    - Interns must be full or part-time students working towards a degree at
     an accredited college or university (6 or more credits per semester; 18
     or more per year).  <br>
    
    - Intern shall have a basic understanding of accepted programming practices.  <br>
    
    - Interns shall be interviewed by the MARFORCYBER DevOps Group staff prior to selection.  <br>
    
    <strong>TO APPLY-</strong> Students should complete and return the application and letter of recommendation no later than 3 August 2020 (<a rel="nofollow external" class="bo">MARFORCYBER_G9_ENGINEERING@nsa.gov</a>) They should expect to be contacted for a phone interview very shortly after.  <br>

    <strong>If Selected:   </strong><br>
    
    - Interns must be able to gain and maintain a Top Secret Sensitive 
    Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance w/ counterintelligence (CI) 
    polygraph. <br>
    
     - Interns must be able to work 40-hours every two week pay period (M-F) (approx. 20 hours per week) @ Fort Meade, MD.  <br>
    
    - Interns will be compensated at the GG7 or GG9 part-time paygrade based on experience.   <br>
    
    - Interns may remain in the program for three years.</div>

    <p><strong>Do you have an interest in Becoming a Nonprofit Leader or Social Entrepreneur?</strong><br><strong> Are you ready to intern within a Nonprofit or Social Venture this Fall?</strong> <br> <br> If yes, apply to the Shattuck Family Internship Program for Entrepreneurship Innovation and Social Change.</p>
    <p><br> The Shattuck Family Internship Program for Entrepreneurship Innovation and Social Change prepares UMBC students for the rigors and rewards of entrepreneurship and social innovation. This program places highly-motivated students from diverse backgrounds in mentored internships to better prepare them to launch nonprofit or social ventures. Students get training and experience to empower them to become the next generation of social entrepreneurs–working largely in the not-for-profit world, developing and delivering innovative solutions to some of our region’s most urgent social problems.<br> <br> Internships last one semester (15 weeks) and students will work, on average, 8 to 10 hours per week. Students receive a stipend of $1,500 toward their compensation. In addition to the internship, students engage in projects and activities that further expose them to the social entrepreneurial mindset.<br><br><strong>Why Participate?</strong> <br> - Earn a competitive stipend of $1,500 <br> - Gain valuable experience in your career field by interning 120 hours over the course of the semester (8-10 hours per week) <br> - Be exposed to the knowledge, skills, and mindset required to successfully launch and manage a nonprofit/social venture<br> - Develop a network of contacts in the nonprofit community for future references and opportunities <br> - Apply classroom knowledge in a realistic work environment and apply lessons learned in the workplace to academic coursework</p>
