Salvete and Χαίρετε!
We hope that you all had a warm and restful winter break, and we welcome you back! Online classes are difficult in more ways than one, so we at the council wanted to take this opportunity to plan some fun and interesting events to help everyone to ease into the new semester!
To get to know more about the Ancient Studies Council, learn more about our events, or talk about Ancient Studies, come join us during Involvement Fest. Our virtual meeting will be on Tuesday, February 2nd, at 12-1pm on WebEx Teams.
We are also excited to share our love for ancient studies with our upcoming events!
Our first event will be Trivia Night. For extra incentive, besides showing off your knowledge of ancient history, we will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places prizes! We will have handmade olive oil soap (made by our very own treasurer, Abigail), a 3D paper sculpture kit of a Greek goddess, and an art commission of your likeness as a god or goddess (to be drawn by our very own vice president, Dakota)!
For our second event, Dr. Lane will be giving a lecture on an ancient system of writing called Linear B! There will be a demonstration of Linear B in clay, which you are welcome to participate alongside.
Our last event will be an Ancient Cooking night, using inspiration from the ancient cookbook, Apicius. Tasty!
The dates for these events are still in the works, but we will be sure to update you all when they solidify. If you have any questions about our events, Involvement Fest, or anything else on your mind, feel free to email us!
