<Tagline>Reflection spaces available Wednesdays in April</Tagline>

Dear faculty and staff,

During what we understand may be a challenging time for many members of our community, we are writing to share with you a resource for support that has been created specifically for faculty and staff. The Office of Health Promotion and the Office of Equity and Civil Rights have partnered to bring Rhonda Wells-Wilbon to support our community during this time. Wells-Wilbon is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in trauma therapy and support with an emphasis on addressing the impacts of sexual assault and misconduct. On each of the next three Wednesdays—April 10, 17, and 24—she will be available to provide guided support for faculty and staff in the Fireside Lounge on the third floor of The Commons.

The Fireside Lounge will serve as a faculty and staff reflection space and will be available from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on April 10, 17, and 24. Beyond the reflection space, Wells-Wilbon and other licensed clinical staff will also be available for individual counseling and support for staff and faculty looking for more one-on-one support. Faculty and staff may also continue to make use of resources available through the Employee Assistance Program.

Sincerely,

Reminder: Great Colleges to Work For Survey

<Tagline>Help us create the best workplace possible</Tagline>

Dear Colleagues,

UMBC has decided to participate in the Great Colleges to Work For program, a national survey designed to recognize institutions that have built great workplaces. Regardless of whether or not we are recognized, the data we receive is helpful as we continue the process of creating the best workplace possible.

On March 4, the survey will be distributed to a random selection of our faculty and staff. If you are included in this random sample, you will receive an invitation with details about the program and how to access the survey. This invitation will be sent to you via an email from Great Colleges.

If you receive the invitation, please take a moment to complete the survey. You will be representing not only yourself, but all your colleagues, so your feedback is invaluable! This is a chance to make your voice heard, and a high response rate helps ensure an accurate representation of our community. At the close of the program, we will receive reports that summarize the organizational competencies and relationships that most directly impact and influence our culture.

The survey is voluntary and completely confidential; our institution will not be able to trace results back to individuals. Your survey will be processed by ModernThink LLC, an independent management consulting firm focusing on workplace quality in higher education. They can be reached at 888-684-4658 or at surveys@modernthink.net.

We encourage everyone's participation and hope you will take this opportunity to share your honest feedback! Thank you, in advance, for your participation. Please visit Great Colleges for more resources or if you have any questions.

Facilities Precautions for Winter Break

<Tagline>Help reduce the risk of damage to buildings</Tagline>

Dear Colleagues,

With the return of cold weather and the arrival of a winter break for many at UMBC, we in Facilities Management would like to ask for your help in mitigating the risk of facilities damage. Please take the steps below to help keep buildings operating efficiently and their interiors free from damage caused by water, wind, or cold.

Close and lock all exterior windows. If a window does not function properly, please submit a work order request with Facilities Management so that it may be repaired.

Close and make sure all exterior doors latch shut. It is unsafe to leave exterior doors open for any length of time. If an exterior door does not function properly, please submit a work order request to have it repaired.

Please use work order requests to report any unusual conditions, such as stained ceiling tiles or other signs of water damage, unusual odors, or unusual mechanical noises from within the ceilings or walls. A small issue now could become a much larger one over the break if not addressed.

Thank you for your attention to these simple but important proactive steps. Your help is greatly appreciated.
