This fall, Anthropology Club is getting a make-over! Starting with a new GroupMe, we will be more involved with our community and organizing more events for the 2024 fall semester. Offering leadership positions, volunteer opportunities, and fun event -  we will having many ways to engage with our community.

Involvement Fest is next week, September 4th, and soon after that we will begin meetings and planning activities.

So until then, join the new GroupMe at

and please email me with any questions at bdemouy1@umbc.edu

The question you may be asking yourself now is, What movie are we watching? Well join us on our Groupme, link provided below, and vote for which move you want to watch!

We have four choices for Wednesday and they all relate to anthropology in very different, but very direct ways. First we have Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, which is about an archeologist who sucks as an archeologist. Next we have Krippendorf's Tribe, which is about an anthropologist who embezzles grant money and makes up a tribe to save face and hilarity ensues. Then we have Quest for Fire which is literally a movie about cavemen looking for fire that was partially written by a potentially very problematic anthropologist and the movie is spoken in an entirely made up caveman language. Lastly we have the horror movie Midsommer, which shows a bunch of anthropology grad students doing terrible field work and terrible things happen to them as a result.

Feel free to join the groupme and vote on which movie you would like to see!

The Anthropology Club will be at Involvement Fest today, September 6th, from noon to 2pm.  The club is open to all majors and anyone who is interested in culture.

Swing by, eat some candy, and chat with us about anthropology!

It's almost the end of the semester and I know we are all starting to feel the crunch. There's a lot going on and I just want to remind everyone that in the next few weeks we will be doing some voting for officers and on constitutional changes for the upcoming year.

Tomorrow, 4/17, we will be meeting to talk about where the club is and where we want to go as a club. We will be looking at our current constitution and taking suggestions for revision. Also we will be going over voting and elections information for the upcoming year.

Also we finally have a GroupMe set up for better communication for club events and news. The link to join will be provided below and anyone is welcome to join the GroupMe.

Just as a reminder, tomorrow, Wednesday, 3/29, the Sociology, Anthropology, and Public Health Department will be hosting an information session for applying to the Fulbright Program. If you are interested in doing research, going to grad school, or teaching abroad after finishing undergrad, this information session is for you.

The information session will be from 12 pm to 1 pm in Public Policy 204. There will be pizza and a chance to chat with other students with similar interests!

Hope to see you there!

Let the Anthropology Club help with that!

This Monday, 03/06/2023, we will be talking about how one would go about looking for Social Science and Humanities based Fellowships and Internships as well as some general requirements that are commonly found in the application process. We will go over how to find paid or unpaid fellowships, the do's and don'ts when applying, and show some examples of Fellowships that one could look out for.

We will be meeting in Public Policy 203 from 12:00 to 12:50, this Monday 03/06/2023.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to any of the club officers. We are here to help!

We hope to see you all there!
