PARKING is out of hand
I dont know what they can do but something needs to change. I have had to miss class on more than one occasion because of not being able to find a spot. I have a class at 11am and normally get there about 20 minutes early and can usually find a spot all the way at the back of the overflow lot. However, today i was running a few minutes late and got there right at 11 and could not find anything. There are just certain times where it is completely full. Where are we supposed to go?
There is a half full lot every day by the campus police station. How about instead of reserving the entire lot for 3 police cars, reserve a few spots and open the rest up to teachers. Then you could at the very least make the new D area where you first come in off the roundabout back to student parking.
I found it humorous that they professed how the new building was very environmentally friendly because of all the "green space." Really? You added grass and call it environmentally friendly. If they really cared why not get rid of the gigantic concrete sidewalks that are all over the place and make them less frequent and not as wide. Just turn the space around it into faculty parkin which will free up space around campus for commuters. Also, it could double as visitor parking during events. I dont care about seeing grass and strategically placed trees.
Here is my solution. Take the area that is next to the campus police station and across from the new building, and turn it into a multi story parking garage. That way no "green" space suffers, and commuters get a some of their parking back. The garage could even be reserved for faculty and that would open up a lot of D areas for commuters.
