Three Red Crowns & the Chris Pumphrey's Sextex Live!
Two of Baltimore's biggest bands performing together!
Thursday, April 11, 2013 · 7:30 PM - 11 PM
On Thursday April 11, at 8pm, two of Baltimore's biggest bands will be performing together at the Creative Alliance, housed in the historic Patterson Theater. Three Red Crowns (sax, strings, guitar, bass, drums, vocals and marimba) will be performing at 8pm. This band's epic sound fuses rock, jazz, Celtic and Americana -- invoking Coltrane, King Crimson and Led Zeppelin in their original compositions -- and features the inspired saxophone soloing of Anna Meadors, UMBC's King Editor on bass and guitar, and UMBC alum Shelly Purdy on marimba.
UMBC alum Chris Pumphrey's "sextet" has grown to a nine piece! Deep in the pocket bass grooves are punctuated with four horns, two guitars, drums and percussion. Their invigorating blend of funk, jazz, world and rock immediately follows Three Red Crowns.
