Freeman-Asia Scholarship - Workshop 9/29/17 - noon Admin 218
Spend a semester in East and South Asia
The Freeman-Asia scholarship is up and running
again for students looking to do a semester in East and Southeast Asia.
The deadline for this nationally competitive scholarship is October 18.
Dr. Brian Souders is running a
workshop for ASIA and GLBL students with complete details about this amazing
scholarship. Students can receive up to $3,000 for a summer program, and up to
$5,000 for a semester-length program.
Location: Friday, September 29,

Dear Students,
The Asian Studies Program wants to remind you of the following information:
WELCOME EVENT
The Asian Studies Program's Welcome Event is on Wednesday, September 13 at noon in Fine Arts Room 558 SOUTH. Please be sure to use the elevator closest to the Engineering Building as the two fifth floors do not connect in Fine Arts.
Please stop by for delicious food and to catch up with old friends and to welcome our freshmen and transfer students.
Dr. Vaporis, the Founding Director of the Asian Studies Program will be attending, so you'll have an opportunity to see him and to meet Dr. Julie Oakes, Interim Director of the Asian Studies Program.
GRADUATING SENIORS
If you are a senior and anticipate graduating in December 2017, you must apply for graduation no later than Friday, September 15.
SENIOR PORTFOLIOS

A Message from Asian Studies Council of Majors President
Julian Tash
Hello Asian Studies Majors, Minors and Certificate Students,
I
am Julian Tash, the current president of the Asian Studies Council of
Majors (ASCOM). It is my great pleasure to tell you about some exciting
new programming that ASCOM is planning this semester.
This
semester ASCOM will be meeting weekly and will have presentations by
student volunteers and professors. This will be a great opportunity to
develop public speaking skills, to deepen your knowledge of Asian
Studies, and to get to know your professors. As our program management specialist, Julie Rosenthal, aptly puts it: it's not just what you know, it's who you know.
We will also be expanding professional development opportunities. So if you like the idea of employment, drop by. Dates and times to follow, but we'll be meeting in Fine Arts, Room 558 South (use elevator closest to the Engineering Building).
Oh, and did I mention PIZZA? That's right. Pizza. Twice a month.
