The Modern Language faculty at UWL are excited to announce a tenure track, Assistant Professor of Spanish position to begin August 26, 2016. We seek applications from individuals who hold a Ph.D. in Spanish with specialization in language pedagogy, or a related field, who have native or near-native fluency in Spanish, and who have at least three years experience teaching in a K-12 setting (Spanish, another language, or bilingual). The candidates ability to teach courses in language teaching methodology, second language acquisition, and courses in introductory linguistics is highly desirable. Experience with edTPA (Teacher Performance Assessment) will strengthen the application. Our new faculty member will join colleagues who teach language and other courses at all undergraduate levels, and will enjoy a community of scholars dedicated to the development and support of ongoing scholarship. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in service activities at departmental, college, and university levels. Candidates who have experience with a variety of teaching methods, have knowledge of or experience working with culturally diverse groups, have the potential to obtain research funding and have a strong desire to incorporate undergraduate students in their research activities are preferred.

This position is affiliated with the School of Education and the dean of the School of Education will provide feedback regarding hiring and personnel reviews to the department.

The Maryland Historical Trust (MHT), the State's historic preservation office, located within the Maryland Department of Planning (MDP), is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual to fill the position of Assistant Grants Manager in its Office of Administration. 

This position primarily performs duties associated with the administration of State-funded Historical Preservation, Maryland Heritage Area Authority and African American Heritage Preservation Grant Programs. This position also assists the Grants Manager with the State Loan Program, the Federally-funded Certified Local Government Pass-Through Grants, and with preparation of the annual National Park Service Historic Preservation Fund Application and End of Year Report, as needed. This position directly supports the Agency's mission by managing financial assistance programs that result in the protection and enhancement of Maryland's historical and cultural resources.

The UMBC Adjunct Faculty Advisory Committee (AFAC) is pleased to announce that we have been allocated professional development funding for adjunct faculty. 

UMBC recently established the fund, to be administered annually by the AFAC as a standing university committee, to support professional development for adjunct faculty.

Awards for each individual adjunct faculty member will not exceed $500 in the academic year. Amount of individual awards may be affected by factors including number of applicants.

students or recent graduates interested in learning the nuts and bolts of
elections.
We are offering volunteer opportunities in press, finance, campaign
research, field
organizing, policy, and community outreach. Applicants should be available
a minimum
of 10-15 hours per week, beginning in early November through the end of
April.

These are volunteer positions that may lead to full-time paid employment. The
campaign will provide proof of work done and a recommendation letter if
you are able
to receive academic credit for the second semester.
Responsibilities:

·       Organize volunteer activities/outreach
·       Knock on doors across Baltimore City
·       Assist with event planning and preparation
·       Assist with candidate call time
·       Maintain a positive attitude
·       Other administrative duties as needed

Qualifications: Applicants should possess good people skills, be a team
player, and
have a sense of humor. Experience in field organizing is helpful.
