Information Fluency in Classics:  A Workshop for Undergraduates Dates: June 20-29, 2017 Application deadline: April 1, 2017 The Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington, DC offers a workshop to introduce undergraduates to important sources of information for the study of classics and develop their ability to access, evaluate, and manage resources in a variety of formats. Participants will also explore the broader landscape of scholarly communication and how it is currently evolving. The workshop sessions cover a variety of topics from search techniques to linked open data. The program also includes visits to area institutions and guest speakers. CHS campus housing Phoebe Acheson, who maintains Becoming a Classics Librarian, will lead the workshop. She has worked at the University of Georgia Library as a Reference Associate and liaison to the Classics department. Phoebe has an M.A. in Classical Archaeology from the University of Cincinnati and an M.L.S. from North Carolina Central University. She is currently the Grants Resource Librarian at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. There is no program fee or cost for housing on campus. Participants are responsible for their transportation costs and for some meals. Eligibility Applicants should be rising juniors or seniors majoring in Classics or related fields. The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Japanese Exchange Program is a ten day exchange program during Spring Break with the Embassy of Japan. The program dates are March 14, 2017 – March 24, 2017 and the application deadline is Monday, January 23, 2017. This program is geared toward African-American juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates (May 2014 or later), who live, work, or attend schools in CBC Member Districts. Students can visit house.gov to determine their Congressional representation based on where they live, work, or attend school.

In addition, the CBCF Emerging Leaders: US-China Study Abroad Program is now accepting applications for the summer 2017 cohort. The program dates are June 1, 2017 – June 18, 2017 and the application deadline is Sunday, February 26, 2017. This program is geared toward African-American STEM, Business, and International Affairs majors who live or attend schools in CBC Member Districts. This program is for students in their 2^nd, 3^rd, or 4^th year of undergraduate education.
