Organization: American Alliance of Museums (AAM)
Supervisor: VP, Strategic Foresight and Founding Director, CFM
Status: Two-year, full-time position
Salary range: $47,000 – $71,000 plus benefits
Location: Washington, DC Metropolitan area, with significant travel
The Ford W. Bell Fellow for Museums & P-12 Education will research, develop and implement plans for the Alliance’s initiative to integrate museums into the education and learning environments of the next era of P-12 education in the United States. This is an opportunity for you to shape the next educational era, exploring the boundaries of how museums can contribute to learning.
As Bell Fellow you will report to the Director of CFM and collaborate with Government Relations and the Development at the American Alliance of Museums. You will help operationalize the recommendations of the Alliance’s 2014 report “Building the Future of Education: Museums and the Learning Ecosystem,” in order to establish how AAM will:
- Spread the Word (compile and share information needed to guide planning and decision making by museums, educators and learners)
- Disrupt Conventional Dialogue (promote ideas that disrupt conventional thinking about education and expand our conception of the educational landscape)
- Create Systemic Change (instigate innovative experiments that could increase the role museums play in education)

CFP: IJBIDE
The International Journal of Bias, Identity and Diversities in Education (IJBIDE) investigates critically the positioning of diverse individuals in formal and informal contexts of education – from kindergarten to adult education, but also lifelong learning. Diversities here refer to different identity markers such as ethnicity, religion, gender, social class, citizenship, disabilities, educational background and language(s). IJBIDE is clearly positioned within a non-essentialist and non-culturalist perspective. IJBIDE also aims to promote original research methods by linking up macro- and micro- methodological approaches. The journal is fully blind peer reviewed by the best experts in the field and publishes empirical and conceptual research and case studies from around the world.

"Discourse And Conversation Analysis" May be Offered
If you have an interest in earning 3 credits this summer, consider taking Dr. Christine Mallinson's LLC 750: Discourse and Conversation Analysis class.
Course objectives:
- To think critically about the role of language, language ideologies, and linguistic practice in our everyday practice and in our social institutions,
- To acquire a basic understanding of the collective areas of study known as discourse analysis and conversation analysis, particularly from the fields of linguistics, sociology, anthropology, and media/communication studies,
- To conduct close readings of written and spoken texts in a variety of forms and genres, particularly with regard to how power circulates through language,
- To compare and assess various methodologies of discourse/ conversation analysis in relation to one’s own individual research interests/project.
The course can only be offered if there is enough interest, so please email Liz Steenrod at

CFP: AnthroPlus Student Conference
University of Maryland
Call for Papers:
The AnthroPlus student conference is a free, one-day event organized by anthropology graduate students at the University of Maryland, College Park. This year's theme is "Building Community Engagement and Social Equity in a Changing World." We encourage presentations relating to the theme, but all submissions are welcome.
The conference is open to both graduate and undergraduate students who would like to present on any aspect of anthropology or related disciplines. We welcome student research from an internship, thesis, dissertation, class project, or other assignment. Submissions from students of other universities and from departments outside of Anthropology are welcome.
This year's AnthroPlus Conference will be held at the University of Maryland, College Park on March 5, 2016. Abstracts are due
online by February 19, 2016. Please visit our
