<Title>Internship Opportunity: Howard County Historical Society Internship - Spring 2025</Title>

    <div class="html-content">The Howard County Historical Society (HCHS) is looking for interns to primarily conduct research on Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) groups, businesses, and people in Howard County, MD! <div><br></div>
    <div>This research includes gathering newspaper clippings and creating/updating biographical information in their database. Interns will also reach out to local organizations to see if they have any relevant material they would like to contribute to HCHS' collections.</div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>This internship will take place either next spring or summer. The work hours are very flexible and you can get internship credits for your major!</div>
    <div><br></div>

    <div>Each year, three national higher education organizations--the <a href="http://www.aascu.org/programs/ADP/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">American Democracy Project</a>, <a href="http://www.aascu.org/programs/adp/democracycommitment/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">The Democracy Commitment</a>, and <a href="https://www.naspa.org/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">NASPA</a>--jointly host a <a href="http://www.aascu.org/meetings/clde16/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement (CLDE)</a> meeting. The meeting is an important forum for people interested in how colleges and universities can prepare students to be active contributors to their communities and democracy. </div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>The 2016 CLDE meeting will take place June 2nd-4th in Indianapolis, Indiana. As with the Imagining America conference earlier this semester, the CLDE meeting will include people in many different campus roles, including faculty, administration, staff, and students.</div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>Read the <strong><a href="http://apps.naspa.org/cfp/evt_frm_user.cfm?event_id=395" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Call for Proposals</a></strong> and consider submitting a proposal by the February 1, 2016 deadline.</div>

    <div>UMBC's delegations to the annual CLDE meetings have been among the largest, and participants have had opportunities to forge strong connections within and beyond the UMBC team. Each of the past five meetings has featured at least two sessions led by people from UMBC.</div>
