The Creative Achievement and Research Administration Team (CARAT) invites you to our inaugural Open House to meet our team and celebrate research and creative achievement in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Connect with faculty -- active and future PIs are welcome -- and those who support this work in CAHSS and beyond. 

The Open House will take place on Wednesday, March 13, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please stop by the Public Policy Building, 4th floor, Room 438for hors d'oeuvres and desserts. Dean Moffitt will provide welcome remarks at 3:00pm.

NSPM-33 Compliance Webinar Details:

This session will provide a broad overview of the proposed NSPM-33 program requirements. We will discuss which requirements are least likely to change and which have the greatest potential to change before the final guidance is released. We will host a dialogue about what participants are doing at their own institutions to prepare and where they are holding off. Finally, we will offer some ideas for how to start or keep the conversation going at your home institution.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

1. Participants will understand which NSPM-33 requirements are least likely to change versus those still in flux.
2. Participants will build an understanding of how to engage with key stakeholders despite the uncertainty of the final guidance.
3. Participants will learn from colleagues about what they are doing in these spaces.

Format of webinar: 90-minute presentation, followed by 55 minutes of discussion.

NCURA Region II is now accepting nominations for the 2024 Cheryl-Lee Howard Mentor Me Program. The Cheryl-Lee Howard Mentor Me Program is a mentoring program providing educational and professional development opportunities for the members of the Region. We are also accepting self-nominations from those who would be interested in serving as mentors.

The Mentor Me Program provides a one-on-one, targeted approach to learning about the profession of research administration and NCURA at both the regional and national levels. The program matches a Mentee with a Mentor who has complementary skills, background, and experience to assist them in identifying leadership and professional development goals and objectives. 

MENTEES

Deadline: March 13, 2024, by 5:00pm EDT. Late applications will not be accepted.

Eligibility: Mentees must be research administrators from the Region II geographic area and must be members of NCURA at the time of nomination. Self-nominations are permitted. 

Selection: Up to five mentees will be selected for the 2024 program. Recipients are selected based on nominations received by the deadline and considered by the Region's Mentor Me Committee.

Process: Complete and submit the Application Form (also available as a Word document at Mentor Me | NCURA Region 2, scroll to the bottom under the FAQ) with a letter of support from the nominee's supervisor and one active NCURA member (from any region) to the Chair of the Mentor Me Committee, Mary Louise Healy at mhealy11@jhu.edu. 

MENTORS

If you are interested in serving as a mentor, please send your resume and a brief (no more than one page) statement describing why you would like to serve as a mentor and how you believe you can contribute in this capacity to Mary Louise Healy (mhealy11@jhu.edu). We are creating a pool of mentors to allow us to best match mentor expertise, background, and interests with those of our mentees. There is no deadline.

NIH Guidance on Marking Changes in Resubmission Applications

Notice Number:  NOT-OD-24-061

Purpose

This Notice informs the applicant community that, effective May 25, 2024, this guidance replaces previous guidance on marking changes in Resubmission applications. The use of markups such as bracketing, indenting, highlighting, bolding, italicizing, underlining, margin lines, change in typography, font, or font color, or any other type of markup should not be used to identify changes in Resubmission applications.

Changes made to a Resubmission application should only be outlined in the Introduction attachment. The Introduction must include a summary of substantial additions, deletions, and changes to the application. It must also include a response to weaknesses raised in the Summary Statement. Unless otherwise indicated in the Table of Page Limits, the Introduction may not exceed one page.
