NSF Virtual Grants Conference

Join the National Science Foundation for the Spring 2023 NSF Virtual Grants Conference, to be held during the week of June 5, 2023. 

Just like the in-person grants conferences, the NSF Virtual Grants Conference is a must, especially for new faculty, researchers and administrators.

The NSF Grants Conference is designed to give new faculty, researchers, and administrators key insights into a wide range of current issues at NSF. NSF staff will provide up-to-date information about policies and procedures, specific funding opportunities and answer attendee questions.

In response to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, NIH implemented a special exception for post-submission material, allowing a one-page update of preliminary data as post-submission material to specified notices of funding opportunity (NOFOs) (see latest in series of exception notices NOT-OD-23-066). The Public Health Emergency is due to end on May 11, 2023 (see NOT-OD-23-095). For applications submitted for the May 25, 2023 receipt date and beyond, that special exception is ended and is replaced by the following policy.

For applications submitted for the May 25, 2023 receipt date and beyond, NIH, AHRQ, and NIOSH will accept a one-page update with preliminary data as post-submission material for Type 1 R01, R21, or R03 applications, including resubmissions, if the NOFO used for submission allows preliminary data in the application. Because applications for emergency competitive revisions and urgent competitive revisions undergo expedited review, post-submission materials will not be accepted for those applications.

Dr. Taka Yamashita presents a brief introduction to R and R Commander

This session will provide a short introduction to the open-source statistical application, R, and its GUI (graphic user interface) package, R Commander. In addition to the short tutorial, a brief discussion on the potential application of R and R Commander in undergraduate social statistics education will be facilitated. 

Presented by Dr. Taka Yamashita, Professor of Sociology and Gerontology, Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Public Health.
