Clarify Your Program Goals First
Before diving into applications, define your target outcome. Ask yourself: Is an advanced degree required for your intended field, or does it accelerate advancement? Are you pursuing a research-focused program (Master of Science, Ph.D.) or a professional degree (M.P.S., M.B.A., health professions)? Many assistantships offer partial or full tuition waivers alongside a living stipend in exchange for 10 to 20 hours of work per week.
