Advising/registration clearance is not required and all students can register today. Popular STEM courses tend to fill quickly!
Some natural science courses may require department or instructor approval. If this is the case, you will need to reach out to the professor on record directly for permission.
Be sure to discuss your summer plans with your assigned advisor during your regular advising session -- also starting this month.
A comprehensive chart for all registration dates/times can be found here. Initial registration times for undergraduate students will begin as early as April 1st for students who have earned 120 credits or more and will continue in descending earned credit order through to April 18th when all continuing students are eligible. You can verify your specific date/time for registration via your myUMBC account. **
A new semester means a clean slate and plenty of opportunities to start off with good, healthy habits like regular study sessions or study groups! To help you meet these goals, CNMS is opening up The Learning Collaboratory (UC 115) for an open study hall EVERY WEEKDAY (Monday - Friday) 1-4 PM. During these open study hours, you will have access to a monitored, distraction-free environment where you can study independently or as a group in a quiet, conducive learning space. If you have been looking for a great place to study on campus – THIS IS IT! We are located right behind Starbucks and Chick-fil-A so you can easily drop in after your mid-day pick me up!
This space is open to all students but throughout the semester we will also be providing introductory-level biology (141/142), chemistry (101/102), and physics (111/112;121/122) students with helpful, timely, and topical handouts – including study guides and practice problems! Make sure you watch your course’s Blackboard message for updates on the release of these materials and drop by to pick up your copy.
**PLEASE NOTE** Tutors will NOT be present at study hall sessions! For more support along these lines, please utilize the Academic Success Center’s resources.
BONUS: Some of your chemistry professors will be hosting their office hours in the TLC this semester!
During study hall, you are free to use one of the room’s many whiteboards and CNMS advisors/peers will be present to answer any questions you may have about effective study methods. There is no better time or place to meet with some of your classmates and form a study group and/or jump right in to practice problems!

REMINDER: TODAY, Friday, February 7th is the last day to add courses and/or drop a course without a withdraw designation/"W."
Please make sure all schedule changes are finalized by the end of the day today.
Students have from February 8th - April 4th to withdraw from individual courses and/or change their grading method to Satisfactory "S"/Unsatisfactory "U.". Any dropped courses during this time frame will result in a withdraw designation or "W" on a student's academic record.
Consider consulting with an academic advisor for additional support or clarification of your options.
