COEIT Advisors "Virtual" in July
Though we are not in our offices we are still here to help!
Due to renovations occurring on the second floor of the ITE Building COEIT advisors will be working remotely for most of July. No in person appointments are available starting July 1st unless specific arrangements are made in advance.
Advisors will continue to be available electronically.
An announcement will be posted when we have a specific return to office date.
Current UMBC students and incoming students who have already attended orientation can reach advisors via email and can schedule virtual advising appointments. Information about how to contact an advisor can be found

CWIT Donor-Supported Scholarship Applications Open Now!
COEIT Students: Apply via Scholarship Retriever by May 31
The Center for Women in Technology periodically receives donations from individuals and organizations who want to support students through scholarships. We are currently accepting applications for these Donor-Supported Scholarships for the 2023-24 academic year. Current COEIT undergraduate students of all genders in good academic standing are welcome to apply. The awards will be made by the beginning of the Fall 2023 semester, and range in amount from $1000 to $3000 for the academic year. Eligible students will be able to view the opportunity in Scholarship Retriever: https://umbc.academicworks.com/

COEIT Celebration! This Sunday!

Reminder that the 2023 COEIT Celebration It will be held in person at the RAC on Sunday, May 7th from 2:00 -4:00. All COEIT students, faculty, and staff are invited!
There will be food, fun, prizes, games, and a raffle.
The Awards Ceremony for graduating seniors will begin at 2:00 on the RAC floor.
At approximately 2:30 the celebration events will begin on the track level. Clubs and Organizations will be showcasing their accomplishments and many will be hosting games or activities.
There will be a raffle for participating students.
The celebration will end at 4:00.
We are excited to celebrate together all we have accomplished after a challenging few years. We hope to see you there!

Individual Course Withdrawal Deadline April 7th
Students can Withdraw from Individual Courses through 14/7
Friday, April 7th is the deadline to withdraw from individual courses for the Spring semester.
Withdrawn courses count as attempts but do not impact your GPA.
If withdrawing from one or more courses will bring you to less than full time status (12 credits) there may be impacts in other areas such as
scholarship,
financial aid, and
on-campus housing. Questions about those areas should be directed to the appropriate office.
Students can withdraw from the entire semester though the last day of classes, May 16th. Full semester withdrawals can have serious impacts on other areas and should always be discussed with an advisor.

Important Information for Fall 2023 Registration
Fall 2023 Registration - Advising
Appointment Information for Current Students:
Recently all UMBC undergraduate students received notification of an "Advising Hold" on their UMBC account. Students must meet with an advisor to have the hold lifted in order to register for Fall courses.
Fall Registration for undergraduate students will begin in April.
The date/ time of registration eligibility for each student is based on the number of earned credit.
Students can consult the Registration Appointment Calendar here.
Your exact Registration appointment time can be found in the "Registration Guide" in myUMBC (myUMBC- Guide - Registration Guide)
Pre-Majors and all first semester transfer students should schedule an advising appointment with a COEIT advisor starting March 6th. New appointments times are being added on a regular basis.
Pre-Majors should schedule their registration advising appointment here.
All COEIT students who have passed their gateway, are not first semester transfer
students, and have been updated to the full major will be advised by
faculty in the department. Faculty advisors are listed in your myUMBC Profile.
More information about advising for students who are full majors can found here.
Faculty advisors may wait until the schedule of classes is posted on March 27th meet with students.
Information Systems and Business Technology Administration
majors (or students intending to change to one of these majors) are advised in
the Information Systems Department. Please go here for more information.
If you are changing your major to a major outside the
College of Engineering and Information Technology, please contact the respective
department of your new
major for advising appointment instructions. Please remember to
complete a Declaration
of Major form for your new major.
Summer 2023 Session
Summer Session registration began March 1.
Students do not need to meet with an advisor prior to registering for summer courses unless they have questions or concerns. If you intend to take a course
off-campus during the summer, a Verification
of Transferability Form is required in advance of taking
the winter course.
New Students Admitted for the Fall Semester:
Newly
admitted students for the Fall semester may not register for courses until Summer Orientation. Please sign up for Orientation here.
