Recently the Registrar's Office placed "Advising Holds" on all current students for Fall 2023 registration.
Advisors will begin meeting with students to provide registration clearance in March. Please wait to schedule a registration clearance appointment until you receive communication from us that Fall 2023 Registration Clearance appointments are available.
Students will not be able to have their advising hold lifted at this time.
You will not need advising clearance to register for summer courses. Summer course registration begins on March 1st.

First-Year STEM Majors! Complete our Study!
Understanding Institutional Support and Sense of Belonging
The purpose of this study is to understand the experiences of undergraduate STEM students and their perceptions of institutional support and sense of belonging. Over the course of the semester, you will be asked to complete two online Qualtrics surveys (one at the beginning of the semester and one at the end of the semester) that will take approximately 15-20 minutes. The survey includes questions about your perceptions of support from faculty, staff, advisors, and other personnel at UMBC, your sense of belonging in STEM, and some demographic information.
To participate in this study, you must be an undergraduate student in your first year at UMBC. You must also identify as a STEM major (for example, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, & Psychology BS). Your contribution to the study can potentially transform how universities support STEM students.
If you complete the survey you will be entered in a drawing to win one of five $25 Amazon Gift Cards.

Students who recently passed GW should confirm their major
Engineering and Computer Science majors who were enrolled at UMBC In Fall 2022 and passed their Gateway in Fall 2022 should confirm that their major has been updated from "Pre" major to full major in their MyUMBC account. If you are not sure of the gateway requirements for your major please consult the requirements
here.
In order to confirm that your major has been updated please log onto MyUMBC. Select "Profile" on the heading and then "Degree" on the left side menu. Your major will be listed on the right side of the page.
The listed major should be Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science (no Pre).
If you think you passed the gateway in Fall 2022 or before, and attended UMBC In Fall 2022 or before, but your major is still listed as Pre-Computer Science, Pre-Computer Engineering, Pre-Mechanical Engineering, or Pre-Chemical Engineering please email Emily

Association of Old Crows APG-Susquehanna Chapter
Student Scholarship 2023-2024
Scholarship Amount: $2000
Applicants: Students
must be undergraduate degree-seeking in the areas of engineering or computer
sciences and be able to articulate a career interest related to the AOC
professional mission in the fields of military communications, electronic
warfare, electromagnetic spectrum management operations, cyber electromagnetic
activities, and/or information operations. For example, a future career on a
team that: develops systems that protect pilots from enemy anti-aircraft
weapons and ground troops and civilians from IEDs or develops tools and
programs to counter enemy cyber-attacks.
Instructions: Please
complete the application (attached) and essay and return to your school representative
with two academic reference letters of from your current university/college. Please see the attached application instructions and application form for more details.
Submission Deadline: April 3, 2023.
Please
submit your application and all required documents electronically to Emily Stephens (eastephe@umbc.edu) by April 3, 2023
Scholarship winners will be notified by May 1, 2023.
