The College Diabetes Network at UMBC is a student-lead organization and was found in August of 2018. The group aims to connect students with and affected by Type 1 Diabetes. It is our mission that these connections made possible by the UMBC College Diabetes Network will create a support network of students who can share their experiences and feel supported as they transition and thrive here at UMBC!
The intentions behind The College Diabetes Network aims to specifically help those who are living with Type 1 Diabetes; however, The College Diabetes Network Chapter at UMBC welcomes all individuals with diabetes whether that be Type 1 or Type 2. We also welcome new members who may be undergraduates, graduates, Ph.D., full-time, or part-time students of the UMBC community. In addition, we would like to recognize those who are either family members, roommates, friends, and/or allies of students who live with T1D and T2D.
We hope that the connections made possible through the CDN Chapter at UMBC will foster a support network and ever-growing community for which students can share their experiences and connect with one another. Our mission is to see it that our members can thrive in all of their personal, healthcare, and scholastic accomplishments, all while living with diabetes!
This organization is meant to be a safe place for which members can talk openly about issues and concerns for those transitioning to college with T1D and T2D. Members are welcome to provide any helpful advice, feedback, and share information regarding diabetes independent self-management and care on the @CDNatUMBC Facebook page! Check us out on Instagram!
