Hour of Code
Help expand the reach of CS for UMBC and Lakeland students!
Hour of Code is a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science using a 1-hour coding activity. The one hour coding activity is designed to show that anyone can learn the basics of coding, and to create a more inclusive computer science community. The CS Education student organization, with support from the CS Matters in Maryland CS education project, will be hosting UMBC's Hour of Code event on Monday (Dec. 4) and Tuesday (Dec. 5).
On December 4th from 10am-1pm , we will be hosting the Hour of Code event for anyone who wants to try the coding activities on Main Street.
On December 5th from 11am - 2pm, we will have special guests! Some students from Lakeland Elementary School will learn to code along with President Freeman Hrabowski!
We need volunteers to make this event a success! Coding experience is useful, but not necessary. We will host training sessions prior to the event for everyone who volunteers. The training will give you a chance to try our Hour of Code activity along with our Makey Makey activity!
