    <p>The 2015 <a href="http://tapiaconference.org/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Richard Tapia Conference</a> (Feb. 2015 in Boston) brings together undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, researchers, and professionals in computing from all backgrounds and ethnicities to celebrate the diversity that exists in computing, connect with others with common backgrounds, obtain advice from and make contacts with computing leaders in academia and industry and be inspired by great presentations and conversations with leaders with common backgrounds. UMBC president Freeman Hrabowski and recent UMBC faculty member Shaun Kane will be plenary speakers this year.</p>
    <p>The conference provides scholarships for students (undergraduate and graduate), post-docs and faculty that include conference registration, meals, hotel accommodations and a travel stipend. Tapia scholarships are generously funded by government and industry organizations.</p>

     at their headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. During the Summit, a selected 
    group of 35 top minority female students will get have the opportunity 
    to learn more
     about GE Aviation’s technology, executive leadership, and career 
    opportunities. Attendees will network with GE employees and leaders and 
    attend professional development workshops. They will be able to have 
    candid discussions with professional women of all
     ages on GE’s work environment and work-life balance while getting to 
    know more about what we do at GE Aviation. Candidates will be selected 
    from top universities around the country and will interview for an 
    internship position at the end of the Summit. If
     selected, GE will cover all travel, meal, and lodging expenses for the 
    Summit. </span>

    <div>Our Chapter got chosen by SWE Regional Collegiate Team from Regional E to host this years' SWEet Summit, which is a day long developmental event. There will be guest speakers, networking lunch, and profession development activity. You will get a chance to meet other SWE members from 12 different schools, along with professional members from the National SWE Chapter. </div>

    <div>Due to the nature of the event, we are looking for volunteers that can direct the attendees from the parking lot to the Summit room. The Summit starts at 10 am so we need volunteers from 9:30 am - 10:15 am. After this, you are more than welcome to join us at the Summit. In fact, you are encouraged to join us! </div>

    <p>Undergraduate Research is a great way to get involved and become engaged in your learning experience. What's even better is that as someone with multiple and/or diverse interests, you'll have the opportunity to develop a unique combination of research questions and answers. </p>
    <p>The possibilities are literally endless, and you could even choose to travel, get an internship, OR apply for funds/fellowships that will help jumpstart or expand your research.</p>
