<Tagline>Hey Commuter Students, Important Information!</Tagline>

Student Virtual Parking Permits Now Available!

Dear Students,

UMBC virtual parking permits are now available for all new and returning students. All students are required to activate a new virtual on-campus parking permit each August. Please do not sign up for a visitor account; UMBC does not issue parking permits for visitors.

Parking enforcement will begin on August 31; those who park on campus without a valid permit will be issued a citation.

Registering your vehicle is not the same as getting a permit. Once vehicles are registered, please click on the "Get Permit" button. Parking permits must be renewed every August prior to the start of the new academic year. You may register up to three vehicles. However, you may only have one vehicle on campus at a time. Once you have registered your vehicle, please click on the "Get Permit" button. Failure to complete this step means no permit has been issued to you and as a result, you may be issued a citation.

Parking Permit Overview
Student parking permits are assigned as follows:

The annual NSA Codebreaker Challenge consists of a series of tasks that are worth a varying amount of points based on their difficulty. Schools will be ranked according to the total number of points accumulated by their students. Solutions may be submitted at any time for the duration of the Challenge, which will end early in January.

The initial tasks are divided into two sequences, A and B, which can be solved independently. Later tasks may rely on the results of earlier tasks. While not required, we recommend that you solve tasks in order since they flow with the storyline and may, in fact, be unsolvable without the information recovered from previous tasks.

Each task in this year’s challenge will require a range of skills. It starts with easy tasks but advances to harder ones, so it’s a great learning experience even if you are just learning about cybersecurity. To solve all of the tasks, you will need to call upon all of your technical expertise, your intuition, and your common sense.

Getting started is easy. Go to the challenge webpage, and create an account using your UMBC email address. After you’ve verified your email address, you will get an invitation to join the Discord server. Joining will earn you (and UMBC) your first point!

Rotational Associates Program (RAP)

<Tagline>AstraZeneca</Tagline>

The BioPharmaceutical Development (BPD) department at AstraZeneca, which focuses on creating novel products that fight disease and transform quality of life, has a two-year Rotational Associate Program (RAP) that consists of three eight-month rotational assignments across various BPD functions.

The program enables recent graduates to make a difference by working on challenging technical projects supporting the development of protein therapeutics in the areas of Cell Culture and Fermentation, Purification, Analytics and Protein Characterization, Formulation, Delivery Devices, Clinical Logistics and Manufacturing. The program is designed to equip participants with an understanding of each BPD function's role in the drug development process, enable them to grow professionally and ensures a full-time position in BPD at the end of all three rotations.

AstraZeneca is looking for scientists with a focus on biology, chemistry, biochemistry, engineering or related discipline (Bachelors and/or Master graduates with 0-2 years prior work experience). Individuals should have strong academic performance, strong technical and lab skills, be critical thinkers, have good communication skills and a collaborative working style. Candidates should have a passion for science and a strong interest in a career in drug development.

AstraZeneca will be accepting applications for a start in 2023 beginning July 19th. Applications for the program will close in the US on September 18th.
