Kennedy Krieger Institute's Neurobehavioral Unit (NBU) is an inpatient facility dedicated to assessing and treating behavior disorders in children with developmental disabilities. They are seeking applicants interested in helping these children reach their potential. Duties include providing patient supervision and implementing behavioral and educational protocols. This is a great opportunity to learn about state-of-the-art behavioral therapies. Day, evening, weekend or night shifts may be available.

What is an Adult Learner you ask? Adult Learners are undergraduate students who are 25 years or older. They are sometimes referred to as non-traditional students.

Hello!

We are excited to announce that UMBC is participating in a research study to understand the experiences of informal (unpaid) student caregivers. An informal caregiver is someone who provides assistance with activities such as transportation, shopping, finances, bathing or dressing to a spouse, family member, friend or neighbor. Researchers are interested in understanding what challenges students face while being a caregiver and what resources are most helpful to reach academic goals. You will receive an email in the next few weeks containing a link to the short survey. The survey should take less than five (5) minutes to complete.

Student caregiver participation will contribute greatly to our understanding of caregivers and help us identify new resources to assist students achieve their academic goals while being a caregiver.

If so, here’s your chance to apply for 2022-2023 Commuter students have two ways to apply for 2022-2023 housing: Housing Selection process or the Housing Interest Application.

Housing Selection 

Participation in the Housing Selection process guarantees students housing for the 2022-2023 academic year and allows you to choose your roommates and room.  As a commuter you must meet the following criteria to be issued the Housing Selection application: 

  • Currently enrolled: You must be actively enrolled as a full-time student for the Spring 2022 semester.

  • COVID Compliant: Students must be in compliance with UMBC COVID-19 expectations, this includes the booster requirement. Check your COVID Compliance Card on myUMBC.

  • Good Financial Standing: If you have an outstanding balance greater than $250 you will not be eligible to complete the application until you clear your bill with Student Business Services. 

  • Complete a “Commuter Pass” with a current resident between March 1, 2022 and March 31, 2022.

If you meet the above criteria you will be issued the Housing Selection Application which you will need to submit by April 1, 2022 at 5PM.  Please review the 2022-2023 Housing Selection Guide to learn more about the Housing Selection process.

Housing Interest Application

The Housing Interest Application will be made available to all commuters on April 6, 2022. Students who complete the Housing Interest Application will be added to the housing wait list.  Unlike the Housing Selection process, students on the housing waitlist are not guaranteed housing.  

If you are on the waitlist you will be contacted via UMBC email if and when a space becomes available. A housing offer would be sent electronically to the student’s UMBC email as early as mid-May. Students who accept their offer by completing the license (contract) and reservation fee are guaranteed housing for the upcoming license term. Offers are made based on the availability of space. Students will remain on the waitlist until we are able to make them an offer.

The Scientific Consultant will assist clients in securing grants from federal and private funding agencies to advance their research & development. The Scientific Consultant will serve as a Project Manager to coordinate all aspects of the proposal preparation process, including interfacing with clients and collaborators, writing research and commercialization plans, and submitting applications to the cognizant agency. As such, a successful candidate will exhibit strong scientific writing and communication skills and display a passion to assist scientists and entrepreneurs in advancing their innovative ideas from concept through research & development and commercialization.

Essential Job Functions:

· Provide strategic guidance to assist scientists and entrepreneurs in understanding the non-dilutive funding landscape.

· Write competitive grant applications in response to solicitations from a broad range of agencies (Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, etc.)

· Serve as a Project Manager to coordinate all aspects of the proposal preparation process, including research plan development, budget preparation, and submission

· Work cooperatively with collaborators in the start-up space, at contract research organizations, in academia, and various other organizations with a focus on scientific development

· Collaborate with team members at EGC to create solutions with measurable value for clients and in support of EGC’s central mission to advance science
