These programs can be a great opportunity for students to get their feet in the door for an internship.

Our Exploratory Programs allow college freshmen and sophomores to learn more about financial services as well as our firm’s business, people and culture. Our goal is to bring students together from different schools, majors and backgrounds and to help set them up for success as they explore future career interests and opportunities. Our program includes skill-building workshops, interactive case studies and networking sessions with Goldman professionals.

Please note: Goldman Sachs will provide domestic travel within the U.S. and hotel accommodations.

The Shattuck Family Internship Program for Entrepreneurship Innovation and Social Change prepares UMBC students for the rigors and rewards of entrepreneurship and social innovation. This program places highly-motivated students from diverse backgrounds in mentored internships to better prepare them to launch nonprofit or social ventures. Students get training and experience to empower them to become the next generation of social entrepreneurs–working largely in the not-for-profit world, developing and delivering innovative solutions to some of our region’s most urgent social problems.

Internships last one semester (15 weeks) and students will work, on average, 8 to 10 hours per week. Students receive a stipend of $1,500 toward their compensation. In addition to the internship, students engage in projects and activities that further expose them to the social entrepreneurial mindset.

Why Participate?
- Earn a competitive stipend of $1,500
- Gain valuable experience in your career field by interning 120 hours over the course of the semester (8-10 hours per week)
- Be exposed to the knowledge, skills, and mindset required to successfully launch and manage a nonprofit/social venture

- Apply classroom knowledge in a realistic work environment and apply lessons learned in the workplace to academic coursework

Have you been wanting to participate in Best Buddies? Here's your chance! You can participate in weekly service through The Shriver Center while enrolled in the 096 Community Service & Learning Practicum.

The Shriver Center Service-Learning & Community Engagement team in collaboration with UMBC Best Buddies is happy to announce that we have established another site at Itineris, in Baltimore, for the Spring 2019 semester and beyond! We are currently looking for about 4 or 5 service learners for Spring 2019 who have time for a weekly volunteering commitment at Itineris around 3:00-5:00 PM (one day a week). You would be paired one-to-one with a friend with a diagnosis of autism and hang out with your buddy during that time!

Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering

UMBC’s Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering invites applications for multiple, open rank, tenured/tenure-track positions in Computer Science (CS) and Computer Engineering (CE) to begin in the Fall of 2019. Applicants should have or be completing a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, have demonstrated the ability to pursue a research program, and have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching.

We welcome candidates in all areas of specialization. Some areas of interest for CS applicants include but are not limited to: information assurance and cybersecurity; mobile, wearable, and IoT systems; big data with an emphasis on machine learning, data science, brain-inspired methods, and high-performance computing; knowledge and database systems; visualization.

Some areas of interest for CE applicants include but are not limited to: hardware focused applicants in Digital, Analog, Mixed-mode VLSI design and test, integrated sensors and processing, SoC, new and emerging design technologies, hardware implementations for neuroscience and health-related wearables, cyber physical systems, hardware security and assurance.

The CSEE department is research-oriented and multi-disciplinary, with programs in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, and Cybersecurity. Our faculty (33 tenure-track, 10 teaching and 18 research) enjoy collaboration, working across our specializations as well as with colleagues from other STEM, humanities and the arts departments and external partners. We have more than 2000 undergraduate and 560 M.S. and Ph.D. students in our programs.
