    <div class="html-content"><span>There is no better time than the present to come down to the Women's Center for group discussions, making feminist friends, utilizing the meditation room, studying, lunch, and/or relaxing in the lounge area between classes. Don't forget we offer one-on-one confidential support, have a kitchenette with a microwave, and have free feminine hygiene products and condoms!</span><div><br></div><div>The Women's Center staff is excited to meet you and support you in any way we can! </div><div><br></div><div>Note that on May 20th we will be open from 12-5pm and on May 21st and 22nd we will be open from 10:00am to 3:00pm. <Title>May is Mental Health Awareness Month</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div><div>Each year, millions of people navigate the lived experience of mental illness.  <a href="http://accessibility.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">UMBC's Office of Accessibility and Disability Services</a>, in solidarity with Student Disability Services, joins the movement  with its many departmental partnerships, to promote mental health awareness, fight stigma, and provide support.     <div class="html-content"><p>Anyone on the job market knows about the importance of the résumé. This is typically an employer’s first look at who you are and what you bring to the table. That’s why it’s crucial that you can make your résumé stand out from the rest.</p><ol><li><strong>Lead with the most relevant information. </strong>This refers to both categories and individual bullet points. You want to lead with the most important information on the top and left-hand side of the page, as well as within sections. <br><br></li><li><strong>Your personalized LinkedIn URL. </strong>At the top of your résumé with the rest of your contact information, you can add your LinkedIn URL. Need a personalized URL that’s not full of random numbers and letters? Go to your profile, and on the right side you’ll see an option to edit "Public profile &amp; URL.” If you need assistance with this, <a href="https://careers.umbc.edu/aboutus/appointments/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">schedule a LinkedIn appointment</a> with a career advisor. <br><br></li><li><strong>Course projects.</strong> If your résumé is lacking in terms of work experiences, you can include projects from your classes. Just list the name of the project and/or course and include a few bullet points highlighting what you did. Remember: coursework experiences do count as work experiences! <br><br></li><li><strong>Relevant coursework. </strong>By listing relevant courses, you can demonstrate that you have foundational knowledge in key areas related to the job you’re applying for. You can also show that you’ve learned specialized skills in a specific area of study. <br><br></li><li><strong>Skills</strong> <strong>as categories</strong>. These can be comprised of hard skills (e.g., programming languages, statistical analyses, data analysis), soft skills (e.g., communication, leadership, problem-solving), and transferable skills (e.g., customer service, research skills, presentation skills).   <br><br></li><li><strong>Extracurricular activities. </strong>Adding these to your résumé can demonstrate leadership potential. <Title>Short-Term Changes to Library Accounts &amp; Accessing Materials</Title>

    <div class="html-content">We are switching to a new Integrated Library System (ILS) on May 23, 2024. Certain library functions will be <strong>paused from May 17 at 5 PM until May 23 at 7 AM</strong> in order to prepare. <br><br><ul><li><em>Why is the pause happening?</em></li></ul>We are upgrading our library software at the end of May. The system’s data must be prepared for export and then migrated to the new software. <br><br><ul><li><em>Can I still check out and return things during the pause?</em></li></ul>Yes, you will be able to check out and return library materials, although you will not see checkouts and returns reflected on your library account immediately. Late fines will not accrue during the pause, but you will still be responsible for lost items and damage fees. <strong>You must bring your campus ID to check out materials from May 17 to May 23.</strong><br><br><ul><li><em>Can I still request a laptop during the pause?</em></li></ul>No, you will not be able to request laptops during the pause. You can still check out laptops from the Circulation desk; call us at 410-455-2354 to learn what’s in stock.<br><br><ul><li><em>Can I check out a room key or calculator during the pause?</em></li></ul>Yes, you will be able to borrow specialty room keys, calculators, and headphones from the Circulation desk. Please bring your UMBC card with you.<br><br><ul><li><em>Can I request something from another USM campus (e.g., a book from College Park) during the pause?</em></li></ul>No, you will not be able to request books/other materials from USM campuses. Requests made through ILLiad will function as usual.<br><br><ul><li><em>Can I request a book or DVD from UMBC for local pickup?</em></li></ul>No, this process will be turned off during the migration. Books and media will be available in the library’s open stacks.
