    <h2>Summer 2014 - Research Experience for Undergraduates<br><br>
    </h2>
    <p>Sensors and Sensing: From Molecules to Applications<br>Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry<br>Florida International University<br>The main objective of the REU program is to expose undergraduate students to interdisciplinary research in the field of sensing, monitoring and detection.</p>
    <p>During the 10 week program (5/19/14-7/26/14) the participants will closely work with faculty and graduate students on cutting edge research projects that bridge traditional chemistry disciplines. Beside full time research, participants will be involved in weekly seminars and workshops focused on modern problems in the chemistry of sensing, monitoring and detection, ethics in science, professional growth, and the role of the scientist in modern society.</p>
    <p>The REU program provides a $ 5,200 summer stipend. In addition, housing and travel, (including travel for presentation of work in conferences) is provided by the program . Sophomore, junior, and rising senior students are encouraged to apply.</p>

    <h2>Fostering Advancement &amp; Careers through Enrichment Training in Science (FACETS)</h2>
    <p>FACETS (Fostering Advancement &amp; Careers through Enrichment Training in Science) is a school-wide 4-week summer program set to begin June 16, 2014.</p>
    <p>The program provides participants with exposure to the range and applicability of public health.  Participants will receive introductory coursework in epidemiology and biostatistics, formal lectures from different faculty within HSPH. Participants will also engage in a group research project with an assigned HSPH faculty member. These faculty members will be based in the Departments of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Health Policy and Management, Environmental Health, Nutrition, or Genetics and Complex Diseases. Students have the opportunity to select areas of interest on the FACETS application.</p>
    <p>For more specific training, HSPH currently offers 3 department-based summer programs, which include the Summer Program in Epidemiology (Department of Epidemiology), Summer Program in Quantitative Sciences (Department of Biostatistics), and the Summer Program in Biological Science in Public Health (Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases).</p>
    <p>FACETS participants will receive summer salary, housing, and funded travel.</p>

    <p>Chemistry and Biochemistry undergraduate majors are invited to apply for a ten-week (May 19- July 25, 2014) research program sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF-REU) and 3M Corporation. Program participants will receive a stipend of $4,500, a travel allowance, and housing. Participants supported by NSF and 3M must be US citizens or permanent residents of the US. Please use the application tab above to apply to the Chemistry and Biochemistry REU Program at Georgia Tech.</p>
    <p>Each research student carries out a research project under the direction of a faculty member in School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Georgia Tech. Projects are available in analytical, biological, inorganic, organic, physical, and polymer chemistry. Contributions by undergraduate participants often result in publication of papers in the peer-reviewed literature with the student listed as an author. </p>

    <p>tudents will conduct Ocean Science research within the following disciplines and themes:</p>
    <p>• <strong>Oceanography </strong>Trace Metal Analysis; Biological Oceanography; Internal Wave Dynamics; Ocean Analysis and Prediction; Ocean Modeling; Nearshore Processes; and, Coastal Circulation </p>
    <p>• <strong>Marine Biology and Ecology </strong>Marine Landscape Ecology; Marine Microbiology; Fish Ecology; Marine Physiology; Population Genetics; Invasion Ecology; Conservation Biology; Thermal Stress Physiology; and, Biomechanics</p>
    <p><br>• <strong>Ocean Engineering </strong>Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs); Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs); Ocean Instrumentation; Computer Programming; and, Artificial Intelligence</p>
    <p><br>• <strong>Marine Geology </strong>Coastal Erosion; Sediment Transport; Seafloor Mapping; Biogeochemical Analysis; Sedimentology of Upwelling Biogenic Sediments; and, Geomorphology of Coastal Environments<br> </p>
    <p>Students will collaborate with mentors at host institutions to develop hypothesis-driven projects and receive critical feedback from mentors. Students will engage in reviewing original literature, formulating a hypothesis, understanding study designs, testing hypotheses, and conveying their research to a scientific audience. Post-REU training and support will be available to students.  During the REU, students will participate in workshops, research seminars, and a student research symposium that will aid them in their current and future research.     <p><span>The Princeton Neuroscience Institute (PNI) is offering a summer internship program for highly motivated undergraduates, providing education and hands-on research experience in the field of neuroscience. Participants will closely collaborate with students and faculty at the PNI on original research projects, and thereby gain invaluable first-hand experience on what it is like to be a neuroscientist.</span></p>
    <p><span>Summer interns will also participate in group educational activities, including weekly foundational overview lectures from PNI faculty, lab meetings with the researchers with whom they will work, journal club reading groups, plus special forums on topics such as career advice and graduate school application preparation.</span></p>
    <p><em><span>Applicants must be current undergraduates, US citizens, permanent residents, or foreign undergraduates attending a US educational institution.</span></em></p>
    <p><span>No stipend, housing expenses or other compensation will be provided to most interns during this summer research program.  This opportunity is offered strictly as an educational experience for highly motivated students interested in pursuing neuroscience in graduate school and beyond.</span></p>

    <p>CU LSAMP-REU is a paid summer research opportunity that provides undergraduate participants with the opportunity to work with distinguished faculty and staff as well as network with others in their field of interest through weekly luncheons.</p>
    <p><br>Undergraduate students, interested in gaining a deeper understanding in an engineering-related field, have the opportunity to conduct and present research over a ten-week duration under the auspices of a Cornell Engineering faculty research mentor. Through this one-on-one partnership, participants will gain theoretical knowledge and practical training in academic research and scientific experimentation. CU LSAMP-REU was developed to aid in the retention of traditionally underrepresented minority groups in the sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).</p>
