Getting ready to move out or just doing some spring cleaning? Consider donating your gently used items to the Retriever Re-Store, UMBC's move out donation collection program that aims to redistribute the items to other students who can give them a new life!


Donate items such as:

Kitchen appliances 

School supplies

Small furniture 

Desk organizers

Decorative items

Arts + Crafts 

Pots/pans and dishes

Mirrors

Non perishable food items

and more! 


At this time, we will NOT accept clothing, bedding, or items that should be trashed.


You can find donation collection bins near your RA desk in each residence hall, the ACC lobby, and Walker clubhouse starting today, December 8th through the close of the residence halls! Shop for free from collected donations at the Retriever Re-Store pop up shop in Upper Flat Tuesdays.

    Faculty & course instructors, we invite you to get started on prepping your Spring courses for improved digital accessibility by attending this winter session camp! Make it a competition and get ahead of your colleagues in meeting the April 2026 digital accessibility requirements by having your courses fully accessible before the start of the semester.  Let's all give a "PAW' for accessibility! 

    When: Friday, January 9, 2026 · 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM

    Join us for a full-day Digital Accessibility Winter Camp designed specifically for faculty! Through demonstrations, guided practice, and collaborative activities, you'll learn best practices for digital accessibility for Blackboard course content as well as documents, presentations, images, and videos.

    Objectives:

    • Identify accessibility needs within your course materials using Ally in Blackboard.
    • Create and remediate accessible course content, documents, and presentations.
    • Develop effective image descriptions for instructional materials.
    • Produce accessible videos with captions and transcripts.
    • Construct an actionable plan for implementing accessibility improvements in your courses.

    This immersive VIRTUAL workshop will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to create accessible digital course materials. 

    About the Summer Camp

    • The schedule begins at 9:30 AM and ends at 3:30 PM. Breaks are scheduled.
    • This workshop is synchronous via Google Meet with supplemental materials provided through Blackboard. Space is limited for personalized support and hands-on opportunities to practice via breakout rooms.
    • Please have access to a recent Blackboard course with appropriate content to explore digital accessibility (images, documents, video).
    This event will be facilitated by staff from Instructional Technology.

    JOINING THE SESSION

    To RSVP for the event, please click "Going" in the myUMBC event and be sure to add it to your calendar! Registered participants will also receive a calendar invitation from the event host at least one week before the event.

    At least 5 registrations are needed for this session to proceed as scheduled. The session will be recorded if 5 or more people attend and the link will be distributed to everyone who registered.

    Prior to the Event

    1. For the best viewing experience, we recommend using Chrome, Brave, or Firefox, preferably the most recent updates to those browsers. Closing any unnecessary browser tabs will help conserve your bandwidth.  

    2. If this is your first time joining one of our webinars, please review the requirements to use Google Meet. Learn how to connect your audio & video, change/blur your background, and use reactions. You can also review the accessibility support including live captions. 

    Please note: UMBC is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive environment for all faculty, staff, students, and visitors. If you would like to request accommodations (e.g., ASL interpreters, captioning, wheelchair access, etc.) for this event, please notify us at least two weeks prior to the event.     Retriever Essentials will have a delayed opening on 12/10, from 1:30pm - 5:30pm.

    We will be closing at 3:00pm on 12/22 and 12/23.

    In addition, we will be closed on 12/24 - 1/4, and reopen on 1/5 with regular hours.
