The objective of the Miller Summer Research Internship program is to introduce students to animal sciences research, emphasizing food and fiber producing animals. Animal Sciences faculty research a variety of areas, including: ruminant and nonruminant nutrition; reproductive physiology; genetics and molecular biology; environmental physiology; and production and management. Each student will be working directly within a laboratory under the supervision of an internationally recognized researcher. Eligibility: Students must be current sophomores through non-graduating seniors and must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents. A minimum GPA of 3.2 is required.
Competitive applicants will have completed sophomore-level courses in desired research field, have demonstrated through academic and/or co-curricular activities a passion for research, and can articulate how their research interests align with Caltech's research areas. The most competitive applicants will have prior research experience.
Support: MURF students will receive a $6000 award for the ten-week program. An additional $500 housing and travel supplement will be provided.

We’re looking for 20-25 freshmen and sophomores to join us for an 8 week immersion course this summer. Our program starts in Seattle (3 weeks) and travels to various landscapes across the state (4 weeks) before returning to the UW campus at the end of the summer (1 week). Scholars don’t have to be environmental science, or even science, majors, but should demonstrate a commitment to the environment and to diversity, and be curious, creative and enthusiastic – incipient change-makers.
Conservation Scholars will:
The Year 1 experience, Classroom in the Field, starts on June 23rd, 2014. Doris Duke Conservation Scholars will have all travel, insurance, food and lodging paid during their 8-week summer experience and will receive a weekly stipend of $500. Year 1 Scholars may be invited to join a Conservation Solutions Team, or receive a prestigious Conservation Internship in subsequent summers.
During 8 weeks in July and August, the SUR Programme hosts about 20 students from around the world to perform cutting-edge research projects within one of the host laboratories of the UNIL Faculty of Biology and Medicine.
While most of the time is spent in the host lab, each week the students come together for shared academic activities, often with participants of the sister programme at the EPFL. These including introductory student research presentations, lectures from faculty members on research topics and their career paths, and career guidance workshops in academia and beyond.
At the end of the summer, students present the results of their research on a poster during a joint UNIL/EPFL Symposium and write a final report.
Students also enjoy many social activities, including a hike in the Alps, barbecues, swimming in Lac Leman, and visits to other cities in Switzerland!
The programme is geared towards undergraduate students at the end of the second or third year of their degree.
We welcome students studying any field in the life sciences, as well as those pursuing medical studies. UNIL is unique in having a combined Faculty of Biology and Medicine, and we are keen to offer to medical students the possibility to perform research.
Students of any nationality, studying in any country, are welcome to apply, but should have very good English language skills. While most students come from abroad, applications from local students from the UNIL or the EPFL (or elsewhere in Switzerland) are also welcome.
