<Title>Virtual Take Back the Night 2021</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>The events, activism, discussions, support, and stories that stem from Sexual Assault Awareness Month are some of the Women’s Center’s most significant and special. Take Back the Night (TBTN) is one of the largest events the Women's Center hosts every year. To honor this special event that centers survivors stories and healing and invites our community to dismantle rape culture, we created a <a href="https://www.umbc.edu/tbtn/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><strong>virtual TBTN experience. </strong></a></div><div><br></div><div>We invite our community to visit this platform and engage in the visual and audio content. Spend time alone or with others sitting with the reflection questions and action items. Share your thoughts on social media using <em>#UMBCtbtn. </em><br><strong><em><a href="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/womenscenter/events/93530" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Join the Women's Center on April 20th at 4pm to be in community as we experience virtual TBTN 2021 together! </a></em></strong></div><div><br></div><div>Thank you to the student who shared their voices to make the experience a richer and deeper experience for the UMBC community. Last celebrated in 2016, this evening event celebrates the wonderful achievements of UMBC’s  Black and Latina/e/o/x graduating seniors and graduate students. Black and Latine/x students have been historically underrepresented in post-secondary degree attainment and overcome incredible odds to succeed and make an invaluable contribution to the wider UMBC community. </div><div><br></div><div>This ceremony is in recognition of this milestone of our Black and Latine/x students as well as an evening to be in community with all the  staff, faculty, alumni, and loved ones that have supported them. Seniors and graduate students graduating in Spring and Fall 2021 will be recognized and receive a Black and Brown honor cords, as well as a special CBLA Black and Brown pin! His research interests include academic literacies, additional/second language teaching and assessment, language education policy, and teacher professional development. He is Co Editor of Language Assessment Quarterly , Editor of Research Issues of TESOL Quarterly, and serves as a member of the Editorial Boards of Australian Review of Applied Linguistics, Language and Education, and the Modern Language Journal He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (UK). His work in developing the English as an Additional Language Assessment Framework for Schools (funded by the Bell Foundation) won the 2018 British Council ELTons international award for innovation. </div><div><br></div><div><strong>Francis M. Hult </strong>is Professor and Director of the TESOL program at UMBC. His work at the crossroads of sociolinguistics, discourse studies, and education focuses on language policy, linguistic landscapes, and multilingual education. He serves on the boards of several journals including International Multilingual Research Journal ; Language, Culture and Curriculum ; Language Policy ; and Pedagogical Linguistics . His books include Educational Linguistics in Practice (with King) and Language Policy and Language Acquisition Planning (with Siiner and Kupisch ). He is editor of the Educational Linguistics book series for Springer, and together with Ofelia García he edits the Contributions to the Sociology of Language book series for De Gruyter.</div><div><br></div><div><a href="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/educ/events/93407" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Click here</a> to visit the original post.  </div></div></div>
