    <div class="html-content"><div>The Office of Councilman Pat Young is looking for a part-time legislative intern to assist the office during the Spring 2023 semester. The purpose of the internship is to provide students with a real-world learning opportunity, which should</div><div>prepare them to be workforce ready upon graduation.  Additionally, students will receive the opportunity to develop experience in intergovernmental lobbying, advocacy, the State's legislative process, and professional correspondence on behalf of elected officials.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><h4>APPLICATIONS DUE BY MARCH 3rd 11:59pm </h4><div><br></div><div><div>Eligibility Requirements:</div><div><ul><li> Be actively attending an accredited college or university.</li><li> Be either an undergraduate student in their junior or senior year, or a graduate student.</li><li> Have at least a 2.8 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at the undergraduate level, or at least a 3.0 GPA at the graduate level. <Title>Seeking Graduate Research Assistant</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p>We are seeking an <strong>organized graduate student to serve as a Research
    Assistant </strong>to aid in a grant-funded research project. You will support the
    project by completing literature searches and reviews to identify factors
    impacting elementary literacy achievement, with the goal of identifying data
    sets to bring into <span>a virtual reality (VR)
    environment for future teachers at the </span><a href="https://www.irc.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>Imaging
    Research Center</span></a>. You will be a part of a passionate, knowledgeable
    cross-disciplinary research team. </p>
    
    <p><strong>Responsibilities
    include:</strong></p><ul><li>Conducting literature searches using appropriate databases</li><li>Summarizing and synthesizing results of literature review</li><li>Participation in research team meetings and ongoing project discussions</li><li>Detailed documentation of literature review process and organization of literature and findings</li><li>Research into the availability of identified data sets of interest</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred
    Qualifications:</strong></p><p></p><ul><li>Strong verbal and written
    communication skills</li><li>Ability to develop, organize, and
    maintain systems to manage projects</li><li>Experience within the field of education
    (school or community-based work with youth) and an asset-based orientation to
    students, families, and communities </li><li>Experience with academic research
    (using databases, conducting literature reviews, managing data, etc.)</li></ul><p>We are seeking someone for <strong>10-15 hours per week </strong>for the

    <div class="html-content"><blockquote><div><div><p><span>The Government Department at Georgetown University will host its <strong>second annual one-week Political Science Predoctoral Summer Institute (PS-PSI) from June 12 to 16, 2023</strong>. </span></p><h5><span><strong> Applications are open now and close on March 6th.</strong></span></h5></div></div></blockquote><div><div><div><p></p><blockquote><div><div><p><span>The goals of the PS-PSI are to increase the diversity of applicants to political science PhD programs, boost the acceptance rate of under-represented students, enhance the diversity of students in those programs, and augment inclusion and equity in the discipline. </span></p><p><span><strong><u>The PS-PSI pays for your travel expenses and for your lodging at Georgetown, and provides you with a $1,000 stipend.</u></strong> We offer you relevant materials in advance of the PS-PSI to help you prepare; provide the materials you will use at the Institute; and connect you with excellent resources to help you continue your path forward after the Institute</span></p></div></div></blockquote><br><blockquote><div><div><p><span>The PS-PSI will include substantive elements (e.g., introducing the content and methods of political science) and practical elements (e.g., assisting participants to prepare strong applications for graduate programs). The course will focus on contemporary social challenges and the strategies that government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and citizen activists are using to address them.<br><br><strong>Course activities include:</strong><br><ul><li>Service-learning with local NGOs</li><li>Meetings with activists, NGO leaders and government officials</li><li>Visits to sites of historical and cultural significance, including Parliament, the District 6 Museum, Table Mountain, and the surrounding Western Cape region</li><li>Experiential learning activities including language, culture and cooking workshops</li><li>A safari and overnight stay at the Aquila Game Reserve</li></ul><br><strong>The deadline to apply is Tuesday, February 28. Anyone is welcome to attend, but we especially encourage scholars who have not yet written for TCUS (or those seeking a refresher) to sign up, as well as any new communications partners who are interested in learning more about best practices for pitching to TCUS.</p><p>Our goal is to provide a better understanding of The Conversation's pitch process, what makes a great pitch and how to concisely convey your story idea to our editors.</p><p>This session is for member universities of The Conversation.
