JOSEPH AND FRIEDA FAIMAN EISENBERG/ VPC ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP


The Joseph and Frieda Faiman Eisenberg/VPC Endowed Scholarship provides a $500 scholarship award to an outstanding UMBC undergraduate interested in becoming an entrepreneur. The scholarship will be awarded for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Welcome back to another wonderful semester! Entrepreneurs at UMBC has some exciting activities planned this semester to help students around campus meet and network with other entrepreneurs, create their own startups, or join existing ones. There will be plenty of resources provided for interested students to join and help create an innovative ecosystem of collaboration and hustle around campus. Please note that the first General Body Meeting of Fall 2019 for Monday, September 9th has been canceled due to Involvement Fest. The official interest meeting has been pushed to the following Monday, September 16th from 12:00 – 1:00pm at Fireside Lounge in Commons. 

Please make sure you are following our myUMBC page for any and all updates! We will be announcing our official schedule for the upcoming semester shortly, so stay tuned! Are you a dedicated UMBC student who is interested in becoming an entrepreneur and wants to be awarded $2,000? Then this scholarship is for you! Please read the information below for further information about the PNC Scholars/Fellows Program Scholarship.


PNC SCHOLARS/FELLOWS PROGRAM


The PNC Scholars/Fellows Program provides awards up to $2,000 to outstanding UMBC students interested in becoming an entrepreneur. The scholarship will be awarded for the 2019 - 2020 academic year. The awards will be used as academic scholarships (up to $1,000), or as “seed funding” (up to $2,000) to launch new ventures or community based social entrepreneurship projects.  


CRITERIA:


  • Submit a 1-2 page of a personal statement about their interest in entrepreneurship.  The statement should:


  • Describe the impact an academic scholarship will have on their future as an entrepreneur or social innovator or


  • Describe how the award money will be used as “seed funding” to launch a new venture, or “seed funding” to launch a community based social entrepreneurship project.  Submit a preliminary budget outlining anticipated expenses.


  • Submit an updated resume


  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Tomorrow is the deadline for the Entrepreneurship Undergraduate Research Awards! Entrepreneurship URAs provide up to $1,500 to undergraduate researchers to support the development of a solution to either a technical or social problem in collaboration with a UMBC faculty mentor. These solutions can be products or services, address a social or “green” concern, or promote ideas that generate artistic value. To be eligible for an Entrepreneurship URA, you must be enrolled as a UMBC student for the duration of the work proposed.

Award period: June 2019-May 2020
