Hey guys, sorry for not having a presentation the other day. I do however have an site with a partial back story and other tid-bits of information. I've also kept up to date with the progress on the facebook group I created for the game a while ago.

To give a little idea of how far along this game is, the game is nearly 95% designed. By this I mean the only part that needs to be designed are levels and stuff along the lines of playing. Any mechanics or gameplay ideas are thought out and documented in the game design document. (Roughly 70 pages) I won't be able to attend for a majority of the game jam, but I have confidence that my design document can answer any questions that may arise during the jam on the mechanics.

If you're interested in learning more about the game please check out the website. There is plenty of content there, and goodies. Earlier in the year I released an in-dev look at the landscape with Cryengine. http://youtu.be/bdPB-lrF5cE if you're interested in looking. However it's just a landscape with water.

The game itself to put it simply is a zombie apocalypse that features zombies which can rapidly mutate to give themselves the upper hand in any situation. To combat this the humans created an encounter suit called AIES(eyes) to help them have a fighting chance against the opponent. Generally I like to say that they're infected more than they are zombies. To read up on how the process of rapid mutation happens or the process of how it all came about it's all on the #story page on the website. http://www.cryecss.net/infectum/#story.

If you have any questions about the game, how it plays, enemies, or literally anything I just leave a post here or come talk to me at the jam. My email is csidell1@umbc if you would like to send me an email about it.

(Excerpt from website)

The year is 2303, flying vehicles, modern architecture, and new discoveries left and right. Where the skies are clear, full rich landscapes, fresh air; Neomor is known for all these wonders. However over the past few months, people have slowly succumb to a horrid infection. It takes control of the host body, destroys who and what they once were, and ultimately, transforms them into a creature of pure survival. Known as the parasite, the infection eats the flesh of its victims to survive, but at the same time, also regenerates the lost cells to create an infinite supply of food. This can all happen due to the rapid mutation the parasite has adapted to use.

With this epidemic the world powers attempted to contain the infection within Neomor. Research of the infection has shown the process of how the parasite is able to rapidly adapt to any situation. With the knowledge of the process scientists were able to create a similar technology using pico technology. The pico cells replicate the nature of normal cells, except they are synthetic and can dynamically change based on the events occurring.

The military bought into this technology and developed a suit made from the pico cells. The armor was also given an intelligence to help the wearer with using the suit for combat. The suit was named the Artificially Intelligent Encounter Suit (AIES) [Read More on the Story page]

Infectum is a game that combines a few game mechanics together from multiple games in a fun and innovative way. The game is fast-paced in which humans equiped with with special suits battle against an infected force. As one has described it, a zombie apocalypse on steroids.
