    <p>Are you going to be on campus during the summer for classes? Fear not! Our normal Food Zones will be open and stocked full of bags to be picked up at your convenience.</p>

<Title>Retriever Courage Reports</Title>

<Title>Seeking Grad Senators: CAHSS and CNMS</Title>

    <div>We currently have <strong>no</strong> applications for senators for next year from <a href="cnms.umbc.edu" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">CNMS</a> (Phys, Chem, Bio, Math/Stats, etc ...). <br>

    <div>Overall, we have 15 applications. Of these, 12 are from <a href="coiet.umbc.edu" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">COIET</a> and 3 are from <a href="cahss.umbc.edu" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">CAHSS</a>.
     We were late to the game this year, so we expected difficulty getting 
    all colleges represented, but--as it stands--we will have no 
    representation from CNMS next year.<br>

    for application submission to be May 1, it's clear that we should extend

    <div class="html-content">The Retriever Essentials team is proud to announce that we will be forming a Student Leadership Board for the 2019-2020 school year! <div>
    <br>Our goal is to engage passionate student leaders in a sustainable and impactful way. <span>The main role of the Student Ambassador position is to create and sustain connections
    between Retriever Essentials and the broader student body and campus community.
    The Retriever Essentials Student Leadership Board contributes to the vision of
    Retriever Essentials by promoting Retriever Essentials events, engaging the
    UMBC community, and fulfilling essential pantry-operation tasks including
    collecting and inventorying donations, and packing and delivering food bags.
    Ambassadors can also assist with the design and facilitations of workshops
    addressing the stigma of food insecurity, community dinners, food drives, and
    other engaging outreach events. This means that it is essential for all
    Ambassadors to demonstrate strong leadership skills, to be team-oriented, and
    to be willing to contribute to the vision of the Retriever Essentials Advisory
    Board.</span>

    <p><span>“In its most recent study, the </span><span><a href="https://hope4college.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/HOPE_realcollege_National_report_digital.pdf" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><strong><span>Hope Center for College Community and Justice</span></strong></a>
    </span><span>at Temple University polled 86,000 students from 123 </span><span><a href="https://www.complex.com/tag/college" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><strong><span>colleges</span></strong></a></span><span>. </span></p>
    <p><span> </span></p>
    <p><span>The study found that 45 percent of
    students experienced "food insecurity," which is defined as
    "limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe
    food, or the ability to acquire such food in a socially acceptable
    manner." This includes skipping meals and experiencing hunger due to lack
    of funds.</span></p>
    <p><span> </span></p>
    <p><span>Working during college is not associated with a lower risk
    of basic needs insecurity, and neither is receiving the federal Pell Grant; the
    latter is in fact associated with higher rates of basic needs insecurity. </span><span>The </span><span><a href="https://www.complex.com/tag/study" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><strong><span>survey</span></strong></a> </span><span>reported that, of those who experience food insecurity,
    over two-thirds of them are employed.”</span></p>

    <p><span>As national averages of food insecurity increase each year,
    Retriever Essentials continues to believe that food insecurity undermines
    academic success. Join our fight to tackle food insecurity in our UMBC students
    so that they can not only live more comfortably, but show up to class well
    prepared in a holistic manner. </span></p>

    <p><span>The Nigerian Graduate Student
    Association (NGSA) is an association committed to the intellectual success of
    all Nigerian graduate students at University of Maryland, Baltimore County. It
    is devoted to providing professional and social interactions and support among Nigerian
    graduate students. The NGSA will collaborate with the Graduate Student
    Association and the African Student Association to effectively pursue and achieve
    its goals of providing opportunities and support as well as fostering a sense
    of community for Nigerian Graduate Students through events, collaborative
    projects within and outside the association.</span></p>

    <p><span>The
    NGSA committee seeks to accomplish its mission through:</span></p>

    with the GSA and ASA on social events that foster academic and social events in
    which Nigerian graduate students feel represented and recognized</span></p>

    <p><span>Provide
    opportunity to interact with each other as well as build a strong support
    system for each other and share job opportunities and resources with each other</span></p>

    appropriate faculty and staff involved in the achievement of the mission of

    that NGSA provides a space available to first-year graduate students moving to
    the US from Nigeria and assist in making their transition a comfortable and
