Women's Center Lactation Room - Spring Reservations

Schedule Your Reservation for Spring 2023 Semester!

Moms and parents who plan on using the Women's Center lactation room, now officially named the Maxine Tracy Wellness Room, throughout the winter and spring semester are encouraged to sign up for their preferred reservation times. We are accepting reservations now. 

To reserve your time, email womenscenter@umbc.edu for access to our online reservation form. You can also stop by the Women's Center during our hours of operation to complete the form in person. All parents who reserve times will be added to the lactation room google calendar and a group email list in order to support communication and best navigate multiple people using the space. 

While the Women's Center works diligently with parents to ensure access to the lactation room, we're also pleased to partner with the Library which now also hosts a lactation room. AOK Library has a lactation room available on the 7th floor. The room includes a table, two chairs, an outlet and power strip, and sanitizing wipes.. It may be reserved for up to one hour, up to 7 days in advance. A key is also available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Check Out Desk on the Library's first floor. Reserve the Lactation Room for periods up to 1 hour.

We also have an additional lactation room available on the ground floor of the RAC (room 073). This room has a sink and chair. This room is first-come-first-serve. The Women’s Center oversees the operation of this room. If you experience any issues or have any concerns related to the space, please contact us.

Retriever Essentials FAQs:
Q: Do you have [food/toiletry item] in stock?
A: Maybe! Currently, it's hard to predict what we will have, but we make an effort to stock toiletries, frozen meat and veggies, milk, gluten-free items, ready-to-eat meals, and even baby items as often as we can. We can't guarantee any one item will be available, but there's always a variety of items to choose from.

Q: What are the eligibility requirements to get food at The Essential Space, Free Farmer's Markets, and Food Zones?
A: None! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come. We know financial decision-making is complex, so come fill up or just drop by to check us out. We won't ask you for any documentation.

Q: If I get food and toiletries from The Essential Space, won't I be taking it away from someone who needs it more?
A: No, we have enough to go around. Our community has generously provided items to us so we can redistribute them to you to make your semester just a little bit easier. As a student and a human being, you're entitled to a filling and nutritious diet.

Q: How often can I come to The Essential Space?
A: As often as you want to. Welcome!

NEW LOCATION
Due to the cold weather, AOK Library has graciously agreed to let us use the loading dock for this event through March. To find the loading dock: from inside the library, exit through the front doors. Turn left and walk alongside the building (past the RLC, toward the parking lot). Turn left at the end of the building and you will see a driveway. That's the loading dock. If you would like a nearby pin in Google Maps, search for 1046 Walker Ave, Baltimore, MD 21250.

The event starts at 2:15 PM and lasts until 3 PM or until food runs out.
