MTA All Access College/University Pass for UMBC Students
UMBC Off Campus Student Services (OCSS) along with UMBC Transit is working with the Registrar Office to update the commuter list to allow commuter students to purchase monthly discounted Charm Pass (MTA All Access College/University Pass for UMBC Students). This is scheduled to go into effect after the 16th of September.
In the meantime, if you're looking to purchase a pass before this date, or setting up an account, please contact us at transit@umbc.edu.

Formerly known as food stamps, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) gives you money to buy groceries at most grocery stores. There are many ways students can be eligible, but a big one is if you are a domestic student and work 20 hours or more per week.

What are Writing Accountability Group, or WAGs at UMBC?
What: Writing Accountability Groups (WAGs) are voluntary and facilitated by fellow UMBC graduate students
Who: WAGs are comprised of a group of graduate students (usually 4-8 participants per group) interested in developing writing habits and accountability
Why: Develop habits of writing every day for a short, manageable period of time by setting goals and being accountable to WAG peers
When: WAG groups meet once a week for 60-90 minutes for 10-12 weeks. The group finds a weekly time mutually convenient to all group members.
Where: The group decides on a mutually convenient location to meet, whether in person or online via WebEx or other video conferencing platform

Start the School Year Fresh with Free Farmer's Markets
Free food distributions on Thursdays starting 9/1!
Retriever Essentials, AOK Library, and So What Else? are teaming up to bring fresh foods to campus every Thursday starting on September 1st in Lot 7 by AOK Library!
Come by from 2-3 PM, bring your own bag, and grab some fruits and veggies! Stock comes from recovered food that would otherwise go to waste, and will be available until we run out.
We also need volunteers for these events! Sign up for one or many 45-minute shifts and help us set up the food and clean up after the event. Volunteers are encouraged to take food with them.

Student Virtual Parking Permits Now Available
Hey Commuter Students, Important Information!
Student Virtual Parking Permits Now Available!
Dear Students,
UMBC virtual parking permits are now available for all new and returning students. All students are required to activate a new virtual on-campus parking permit each August. Please do not sign up for a visitor account; UMBC does not issue parking permits for visitors.
- New Students: Please go to the UMBC Parking Services Portal, register your vehicle(s), and activate your virtual permit.
- Returning Students: Please go to the UMBC Parking Services Portal to review your account for any outstanding fines, verify/update your vehicle information, and activate your new virtual permit.
Parking enforcement will begin on August 31; those who park on campus without a valid permit will be issued a citation.
Registering your vehicle is not the same as getting a permit. Once vehicles are registered, please click on the "Get Permit" button. Parking permits must be renewed every August prior to the start of the new academic year. You may register up to three vehicles. However, you may only have one vehicle on campus at a time. Once you have registered your vehicle, please click on the "Get Permit" button. Failure to complete this step means no permit has been issued to you and as a result, you may be issued a citation.
Parking Permit Overview
Student parking permits are assigned as follows:
- Zone A (red): Commuter students
- Zone B (green): Walker Avenue apartment residents
- Zone C (gold): Residential students (second year and higher)
- Zone F (orange): First-year residential students are eligible for an "F" permit and are required to park in the Satellite Lot on South Rolling Road during the hours of 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday - Friday. UMBC Transit will provide shuttle service to and from the Satellite Lot.
