Commuter Intramurals are Back!!

Do you want to stay active while meeting other commuter students?!  If so, Commuter Intramurals are perfect for you!  The Commuter Crushers are back for the Spring semester, and registration is happening now!

This semester we have three Commuter Crusher teams: Floor Hockey, Outdoor Soccer, and Outdoor Flag Football.  If you would like to sign-up, go to imleagues.com and create an account.  Once you have an account, click the sport that you are interested in and click the "Join Team" button next to the Commuter Crushers.  The time commitment is small, and each team can choose when they are available to play.

Get active with OCSS and UMBC Recreation! What is the Commuter Recreation Card?
The Commuter Recreation Card is an incentive program offered by OCSS and UMBC Recreation to encourage commuter students to get active.

How does it work?
Any commuter can participate in this program!  Simply show your card at the end of every fitness class that you attend in the RAC and your instructor will stamp your card.  After you collect ten stamps, drop your card off at OCSS and you will be entered into a raffle to win cool prizes!  Start a second card to have even more chances to win!

Where can I get my card?
You can pick your card up at the OCSS front desk.

The first 50 commuters to complete a Commuter Recreation Card will receive a free Commuter Recreation t-shirt!!

Are you a first year student who wants to connect with other commuting students while positively benefiting your community?  If so, this opportunity is for YOU!

For the first time ever, OCSS will be offering a Commuter Engagement Community (CEC), which parallels the experience offered by Living-Learning Communities in residence halls.  This CEC is being offered in conjunction with the Shriver Center and will allow UMBC commuters to connect with one another while positively impacting their communities.  The CEC includes a class component, bi-weekly meetings to discuss student experiences, and academic and social gatherings.  The CEC will also give you an opportunity to be mentored by upperclassmen commuter students who successfully transitioned into life as a UMBC Retriever.

If you are interested in applying for the CEC, please complete the attached application and submit it by Friday, January 6th at 11:59pm.  If you have questions for concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.
