The smiles permeated the room as UMBC’s President, Dr. Freeman Hrabowski made an impromptu visit to the Dissertation House this afternoon. Full Title: Blackboard Down for Extended Maintenance from 10 pm Fri. 3/18 to 10 am Sat. 3/19As a part of DoIT's regular scheduled maintenance, Blackboard will be down for an extended time on Friday, March 18 (10 p.m.) until Saturday, March 19 (10 a.m.) in order to reindex the entire database. This process is the second phase of a 2-step process recommended by Blackboard in order to fix the previously reported spikes in database utilization. UMBC will host a 2 day “Pre-Spring Break Dissertation House” on Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12, 2011.   Breakfast, lunch, and a snack will be served daily. This Dissertation House session will be held in lieu of the annual Dissertation House and Community Building Retreats at Coolfont and Rocky Gap.

Location: UMBC Commons, Room 331 (changed from 327 (Friday)), Room 329 (Saturday). Time: 9:00 AM Sharp – 5:00 PM on both Friday and Saturday
