WT2011 & SP2011 Bb Course Shells Created 12/1 Bb course shells for both WT and SP 2011 were created on Dec. 1, and will continue to be updated daily. Bb shells were created for all courses (designated as lecture, lab, or discussion) listed in the UMBC Schedule of Classes (SOC), provided that there was an instructor of record listed. The addition of new course sections and instructors will result in new Bb shells being automatically generated each morning. Student enrollment in Bb will continue to mirror the official registration in SA, and will update multiple times daily. If you are an instructor, and your name is not associated with the course you are teaching in the SOC, please see your departmental scheduling coordinator to get that issue resolved. Additionally in situations where one instructor is teaching multiple sections of the same course, by default all sections will be combined into one Bb course shell. If you want to have separate shells for different sections, or if you need a shell for for a research or independent study course, please submit a new course request. The particular voicemail system is accessed by dialing x51121. We placed a call with Siemens tech support and their technician arrived on-campus this afternoon. The technician determined that one of the hard drives in this system failed, and we worked with Siemens to install a replacement drive. Unfortunately, all messages stored on the faulty hard drive can’t be recovered. These lost messages may impact one or more stored messages on individual phone numbers. If you are a Graduate Student at UMBC, and if you are working on your  graduate school courses, proposal, or dissertation, then this event is for you!

The on-campus setting provides Dissertation House participants with productive and rewarding scholastic engagement. Students who participate in this program will spend each day thinking, writing, and sharing ideas about their doctoral dissertations. Students will learn effective time-management skills; learn how to set small manageable goals, and will meet with a dissertation coach in one-on-one consultations to discuss and address obstacles that might prevent them completing their degrees.

This is a weekday (9 a.m. – 5 p.m., non-residential) commitment set for the week of Tuesday, January 18 – Friday, January 21, 2011.

UMBC now has trial access to the Morningstar Investment Research Center.

The Morningstar Investment Research Center is an all-inclusive investment research database designed specifically for libraries. It features data and analysis on over 11,000 international and domestic stocks, 24,000 mutual funds, and more than 1,000 exchange traded funds.

The trial runs through December 10, 2010.
