The Office of Health Promotion is having a giveaway!


This giveaway will start on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 and end on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 11:59 PM ET. Winners will be notified via a direct message on Instagram and have 48 hours to respond verifying their student ID to claim their prize.

The Special Collections department at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is now accepting applications for a Spring 2023 internship focused on promotion and outreach for our 50th anniversary. The graduate student intern will work with the Curator and the Reference and Instruction Archivist on the coordination of targeted promotional blog posts and social media content. Specific projects will include outreach to blog contributors, updating project files, tracking scheduled posts across platforms, posting prepared content to the department's Instagram account, and developing promotional content on other platforms as needed. The intern will also have an opportunity to write original content. The student's specific educational goals will be factored into the final project plan for the internship. 

During the internship, the student will gain experience working with archival, visual, and text collections in a Special Collections environment. They will gain project management experience and will play a key role in establishing the promotional schedule for the department. 

Previous employment in a Special Collections department is not required but students should demonstrate experience using visual and archival collections and conducting original research. Strong communication skills are required, with a preference for students that have experience writing on different platforms and for multiple audiences. Students enrolled in a graduate program during the Spring 2023 semester are encouraged to apply by December 4, 2022; applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
