Our friends at MIT, have invited us to participate in a virtual event, that will be followed-up by an in-person opportunity! On August 28, at 11:00 A.M EST, MIT is conducting a virtual visit to the MIT Media Lab. The event will be hosted on the Unhangout platform, a new way of running unconferences online. During this event, you will have an opportunity to talk with current Media Lab students and learn more about their research. This is a RESEARCH EXPOSURE event, this is not an admissions event. If you are interested in going to visit MIT to have an in-person tour, we are coordinating a trip from Maryland to Boston (by invitation only) on Monday, October 27, 2014. If you are interested in this trip to learn more about the Media Lab, please do the following, send email to promisestaff@gmail.com with:

3) One paragraph that explains why you want to attend, and with whom in the media lab you’d like to work/collaborate/meet, why you are inspired by that work (http://www.media.mit.edu/people/faculty), and what you can bring to the research.

PROMISE AGEP: Current and future

Blackboard is going on tour and coming to the Baltimore area for a free teaching & learning day! This event is an official stop on the national Bb on Tour.

Beginning in September, Instructional Technology & New Media  is launching a series called "Instructional Technology of the Month".  This series will highlight an instructional technology supported by our office that can enhance teaching and learning both in the classroom and online.   The first spotlight will be posted next week and will feature the Blackboard Grade Center. The University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) is proud to announce a new round of the now biennial UMBC Postdoctoral Fellowship for Faculty Diversity. This postdoctoral program is a two-year in-residence fellowship that supports promising scholars committed to diversity in the academy and prepares them for possible tenure-track appointments at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). During the two-year appointment, UMBC provides teaching and research mentors and professional development opportunities across campus. Fellows also receive a stipend, health benefits, and additional funding for conference travel and the preparation of scholarly work, as well as office space with a computer, library, and other privileges at the university. The application period closes on November 14, 2014, and UMBC will appoint recent recipients of the Ph.D as Postdoctoral Fellows for a two-year term beginning July 1, 2015.
