With the 2024 election right around the corner, we wanted to introduce you to the great work of UMBC's Center for Democracy and Civic Life (CDCL). CDCL helps people develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to create healthy communities and tackle challenges together. Their work builds from the premise that civic life encompasses everyday settings and relationships through which people can generate the power to shape their world.
The center has tons of resources and events to help you prepare for the election and learn how to become more engaged in your community:

The OoS sends this survey every year to assess the university community's sustainability knowledge, beliefs, attitudes, trends and practices. 3. The Graduate Student Success Committee (GSSC)
The Graduate Student Success Committee (GSSC) is on the lookout for dedicated members who are passionate about promoting holistic well-being for graduate students. Our mission is to act as resources and advocates for anything related to academics, mental and physical well-being. The GSSC emphasizes the interconnectedness of these aspects as crucial to graduate student success.
Our committee plays a vital role in facilitating events and disseminating information about resources available on campus. Here’s a glimpse of what we do:
- Serve as liaisons to graduate student resources.
- Organize the Graduate Student Fest every Fall.
- Host headshot events for graduate students.
- Build partnerships with campus entities like the AOK Library, PROMISE, and more.
Number of members: 2
Expected Stipend: $700 per semester
