    <p><strong>PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION</strong><br>
    The summer intern will support the Multi-Asset Research Team by conducting financial and quantitative/statistical analysis usually at the asset class level, covering the areas of strategic and tactical asset allocation, financial planning research, data/infrastructure, and product design projects as needed.</p>
    <p><strong>PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES</strong><br>
    Independently, or in collaboration with other quantitative or technical analysts, under the guidance of the Director of Research, execute research projects that have been identified to meet the investment needs of the broader Multi-Asset Division:<br>
    Identify the core issue and shape/design the project<br>
    Identify and absorb existing research on the subject (internal or external)<br>
    Identify (and procure) the most appropriate method/tool/dataset to address the issue</p>
    <p>Execute operational duties, such as ongoing generation and maintenance of asset allocation related investment reports, data sets, or analytical infrastructure.</p>
    <p>Perform data analysis and information gathering in response to ad hoc inquiries.</p>
    <p><u><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></u><br>
    <strong>Required</strong><br>
    Must be a Ph.D. candidate expected to graduate in May ’19 majoring in a quantitative discipline<br>
    Strong academic credentials and evidence of ability to independently deliver results<br>
    Experience programming in Matlab, Splus/R, Python, and SQL<br>
    Experience conducting empirical research working with large datasets<br>
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; willingness to learn new approaches to problem-solving<br>
    Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team<br>
    Excellent oral and written communication skills<br>
    Ability to multi-task and to simultaneously push forward several projects</p>
    <p><strong>Preferred</strong><br>
    Interest in financial markets<br>
    Knowledge of investments, portfolios, and quantitative analysis</p>

    <p>Brad Fackler joined the State of Maryland Commerce in Spring 2016 with over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.  He was appointed by the Secretary of Commerce to further the growth of the biotechnology sector in the state of Maryland.  Previously, Mr. Fackler served as CEO of Cellona Therapeutics, a technology transfer company focused on the oncology sector.  He was also co-founder and principal of Kinect Point, which provides consulting to biopharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.</p>

    <p>The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)/ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Public Health Student Intern Program (PHSIP) is looking for an intern from your program.</p>
    <p> </p>
    <p>HRSA’s Office of Human Resources (OHR) is the hiring entity looking for an intern.  OHR  provides a variety of in-house services to all of the HRSA, including but not limited to: selection, recruitment, benefits, ethics, training, etc.  The internship focus would vary depending on placement within OHR but would be focused on developing the intern to accomplish special assignments during their internship.</p>

    <p><em>USM PROMISE AGEP: Maryland Transformation</em> is pleased to invite you to attend and participate in the <strong>2018 University System of Maryland PROMISE AGEP Research Symposium and Professional Development Conference on February 16, 2018.</strong> This conference replaces the former PROMISE Research Symposium and adds a professional development component that will prepare graduate students and postdoctoral fellows for faculty positions in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM, which includes social sciences) disciplines. This year, PROMISE also invites undergraduate students to come to hear graduate students’ presentations, and to participate in workshops that will prepare them to be graduate students with an eye on becoming future faculty members.</p>
    <p>This conference seeks to provide a venue that will allow students to present their work at any stage, receive feedback in preparation for presenting at larger venues, and provide training that will prepare participants for faculty careers.The event is free and meals are provided. Please apply to present at the conference using the rules in the “Call for Presentations” section below and save the date.</p>

    <li><em>Presentation slots are limited to graduate students within the <a href="http://www.usmd.edu/institutions/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">University System of Maryland.</a></em></li>

The presenter’s website will include a photo, bio, abstract, synopsis of research, and list of other relevant publications or presentations as applicable. Students who participated in 2015, 2016, and 2017 can update their current pages.</li>
    <li>Postdocs from universities and organizations outside of the University System of Maryland can participate as mentors and judges for poster sessions.</li>
    <li>All graduate students and postdocs are invited to participate as audience members and attend the professional development workshops.</li>
    <li>Undergraduate students are invited to attend to learn from the presentations and to participate in special workshops dedicated to preparing for graduate school, with a focus on thinking about becoming a professor in the future.</li>
    <li>Faculty from within the USM are invited to serve as judges to provide constructive feedback.</li>

The successful candidate is expected to provide a wide range of reference, instructional, and outreach services to students, faculty, and staff. This position will work closely with the Instruction Coordinator to design and deliver library curriculum and instruction activities for first-year courses, including English 100 and Introduction to an Honors University seminars. Duties include providing library instruction, outreach, collection development, and research support to students, faculty and staff. As part of a department of six faculty librarians and one support staff, this position provides general reference service to the campus community (including shared evening and weekend hours) and participates in the planning and implementation of departmental operations. As an instruction librarian, this position designs and delivers library curriculum and instruction activities and contributes to the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Library’s information literacy and instructional program.<br><br><strong>REQUIREMENTS:</strong><br><ul>
    <li>    Master of Library &amp; Information Science degree (or equivalent ALA accredited degree)</li>
    <li>    Demonstrated ability and interest in providing dynamic library instruction and contributing to a team-based information literacy program</li>

    <strong>Job no:</strong> 492566<br><strong>Work type:</strong> Temporary/Contingent I<br><strong>Location:</strong> UMBC Campus<br><strong>Categories:</strong> Library<br><br><strong>Responsibilities:</strong>     <br>The incumbent will be responsible for general maintenance of the print serials collection, assisting with planning and implementation of shifts.  Using various library automated systems, the incumbent will perform searches to help identify items for deselection. The incumbent is expected to assist users, shelve, maintain all equipment as well as perform other duties as assigned.  This position reports to the Chief Serials Technician.<br><br><strong>Required Minimum Qualifications: </strong>    <br>Requires a High School Diploma or GED; Library or clerical experience desirable.<br><br><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong>      <br>Must have good organization and communication skills; detail oriented, self-motivated, flexible; demonstrate the ability to work independently; proficient with word processing applications.
