The Writing Advisor is back for the 2023-2024 academic school year!

GSA's new Writing Advisor for the 2023-2024 academic school year, Ben Marino, is now accepting appointments to review your writing assignments. The Writing Advisor provides a wide range of services, from brainstorming and outlining an assignment to doing a last review for grammatical errors, and everything in between. Please do not hesitate to make an appointment with the Writing Advisor for any assignment that you would like reviewed. You do not need to have any work done on the assignment.

This semester, the writing advisor is accepting appointments on Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:30 am - 12 pm and 12:30 pm - 3:45 pm, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm. An appointment can be scheduled using either of the following links:

This event is mandatory for all NEW Graduate Assistants, this includes teaching assistants, research assistants, graders and peaceworkers. We encourage the additional participation of any graduate student who may be teaching in the future or as a refresher for returning GAs.

Join us for this need-to-know information session (orientation) for new GAs on August 24, from 1PM to 4PM Online. It will include an introduction to key resources on campus that you may need throughout your semester, from back-end technical support, to your benefits and policies governing graduate assistantships at UMBC. Virginia Tech is hosting a 4 day program (October 1st - 4th, 2023) that will provide opportunities to participate in professional development workshops, campus tours, and opportunities to present research! Individuals from strategic priority populations in the United States underrepresented in the academy, including American Indian/Alaska Native, African American/Black, Hispanic/Latinx, and Native Hawaii/Pacific Islander are strongly encouraged to apply!

The Essential Space, in RAC 235, is back open to the UMBC community this Monday at 11am! Meet Michael or Harshal who will be ready to greet you between the hours of 11am and 5pm, every Monday through Thursday throughout the summer.
