I recommend you save at least 10% of all the money you make in a savings account not a checking account. No matter what save that money and do not touch it until you are in desperate need. Take another 20% and save it for a very long term goal like a house or your retirement. Never ever ever never touch it endless endless your roof is on fire.
Other fun tips:
Every time you are given a five dollar bill save it in a five dollar bill box and once every six months deposit all those 5 dollar bills to the bank you can save like 100 dollars with that
Do the same exact thing with change but don,t deposit change at grocery stores as they charge a convenience fee.
Every 500 dollars you save spend 50 dollars on your self as an award like a really nice steak dinner or a cool t-shirt that for some reason costs 50 dollars. If you incentivize savings you are more likely to do it.
Budgeting is a big thing if you see where your hard earned dough is going it makes it harder to spend it.
Plan your grocery shopping around weekly sales
plan fun cheap alternative dates like hiking
Last tip try not to buy things on impulse take time and weigh if the item you want will really meaningfully impact your life.
