No State of Maryland health deductions!

This is a reminder that the paycheck on Friday, September 1, 2023 will have no deductions for the following State of Maryland benefits, due to the normally scheduled Health Premium Deduction Holiday Schedule for Regular employees:

• Medical
• Prescription
• Dental
• State of Maryland MetLife Term Life insurance
• MetLife Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance
• Healthcare FSA and Dependent Care FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts)

Please note, this deduction holiday does not apply to University System of Maryland (USM) MetLife deductions for Life and/or Long-Term Disability (LTD) coverages.  

Health Benefits Deduction Holidays for Regular State of Maryland employees typically occur once in the spring and fall.  The next deduction holiday is anticipated to occur in the Spring of 2024.

For employees enrolled in the MD State Retirement & Pension system, the schedule of Pre-Retirement seminars and webinars is now available for August – December 2023.

These pension seminars are a valuable planning tool for all eligible members and their spouses, provided by the MD State Pension Agency via the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC). Employees who attend should be within 8 years of retiring.

The annual enrollment for USM MetLife Optional Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability Insurance begins today, March 1 and will run until March 15.  Employees that already participate in one or both benefits, the current coverage will continue, with no action required.

During this year's Annual Enrollment, eligible employees* may either enroll for the first time, increase or cancel their coverage. Elections made during this enrollment period will be effective April 1, 2023, or the first of the month following MetLife's approval of the request.

To take action, visit metlife.com/USMD and click the Enroll/View coverage button at the top of the page. 

Login Information:

• Employee ID= your W Number (no dashes or spaces).  Click here for instructions on how to locate your user ID/W-number.  
• Initial PIN/password= the last four numbers of your W number plus your four-digit birth year
• Note, if you logged in during the past year, all passwords have been reset to the above configuration for this Annual Enrollment.
