Open Enrollment runs from October 15 through November 14, 2019.  There will be no correction period, all changes must be made in SPS Workday during this time.  Employees are encouraged to login as soon as possible before the open enrollment period.  Changes made online in SPS Workday during open enrollment will be effective on January 1, 2020.

SPS Workday Login Instructions:

1. Find your SPS ID (W-Number):  On the bottom of your timesheet, myUMBC Profile, or in POSC

2.  Your Temporary Password:
  • Capital first letter of your first name
  • Lower case first letter of your last name
  • Four digit birth year
  • Last four digits of your SSN (Social Security Number)
  • End by entering $ (the dollar sign character on your keyboard)
3. Visit the SPS Workday login site

4. View the Quick Reference Guide for help making changes 

The new password you create must have one upper & lower case letter, number(s), must be at least 8 characters, and must have a special character.  For more information view the SPS Login instructions.

We are pleased to announce this year’s open enrollment for State of Maryland benefits will be online in SPS Workday from October 15 – November 14, 2019. During this time, employees can make changes online to their health benefits for a January 1, 2020 effective date.  Learn more at our Annual Health Benefits Fair on Wednesday, October 2 in the University Center Ballroom from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.   

Employees are encouraged not to wait until Open Enrollment to login to SPS Workday for the first time.  Tips and instructions are below.

As you may be aware, the State of Maryland issued SB 946 in Spring of 2019 that created several prescription plan options should the court rule in favor of the State of Maryland in the pending Fitch v. the State of Maryland case.  These options are outlined on the Department of Budget & Management website.

The USM just informed us of the following update issued 9/20/2019 by the Department of Budget & Management related to SB 946 (Retiree Prescription Changes).

"DBM has modified our guidance on SB 946 to clarify that employees may continue to work through December 31, 2019 before retiring in order to be eligible for the Maryland State Retiree Prescription Drug Coverage Program.  Please carefully review the updated eligibility criteria for the programs under SB 945 at https://dbm.maryland.gov/benefits/Pages/SB946"
