<Title>Nailah-Ben&#257; Chambers receives Critical Language Scholarship</Title>
<Tagline>Traveling to Taipei, Taiwan in June 2021</Tagline>

    <div class="html-content"><span>Nailah is a sophomore Global Studies major with a Minor in Chinese. </span>She'll <span>be traveling to Taipei, Taiwan this June and staying through mid-August in an immersion program learning Chinese. </span> Awardees are selected based on their commitment to language learning and plans to apply their language skills to their future academic or professional pursuits. <div><span>Nailah will be in a group of about 24 students and will be speaking only Mandarin and taking courses in Mandarin for the duration of the program. There will also be cultural excursions and a language partner assigned, in order to increase cultural understanding.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for American students. </span> The CLS Program seeks participants with diverse interests, and from a wide range of fields of study and career paths, with the purpose of representing the full diversity of the United States. </div></div>

    <div class="html-content"><div><strong>Matthew Kelbaugh</strong>, a history and Russian double major was accepted to present his research in the second Richard Macksey National Undergraduate Humanities Research Symposium. He will present "Visionary or Megalomaniac?  The Legacy of Vladimir Lenin in Contemporary Education"  and "The Kurds of Turkey: A Tale of Survival, Resilience, and Uncertainty"  (group project).</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Natalie Guingrich</strong>, is a freshman studying Modern Languages Linguistics and Intercultural Communication, concentrating in Russian. Her presentation will be “Manuscripts Don’t Burn”: A History of the Creation of Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. </div><div><br></div><div><strong>Danylo Leshchyshyn</strong>, a junior with a History and Political Science dual major, will present his current research as well.</div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>The Richard Macksey National Undergraduate Humanities Research Symposium provides hundreds of students across all fields of the humanities the opportunity to share their work in the professional presentation style most common to their fields. It’s the first conference of its kind: there has been no other national platform for undergraduates in the humanities to share their work.</span></div><div>In response to COVID-19, the 2021 symposium will be an online format. Their second cohort of advisers helped shape some of the career guides published by WSJ recently by identifying the topics that would be most useful to them. </div><div><br></div><div><span>Anjali is a Media and Communication Studies major with a minor in Journalism.
