    <div class="html-content">Come to URCAD on Wednesday, April 26 to see dancer/choreographer Domineka Reeves' presentation “Together We Stand” at the dance Cube in the PAHB.<div><br></div>
    <div>Her performance distinctively presents the cohesiveness of these three commonly experienced phases in life, through videography, original musical compositions, and movement. She will use distinct sounds within each musical composition to create an environment filled with tranquility, uneasiness, and empowerment. Different intimate experiences from everyday life is what she uses to authenticate the reoccurring and expressionistic style of movement within this dance. </div>

    <div>Come to <strong>URCAD</strong> on <strong>Wednesday, April 26 </strong>where Caleb Metcalf will present his research “<strong><em>Boy Meets Girl, Boy, Girl: Subverting Master Narratives in the Web-Series MANN/FRAU</em></strong>”. His presentation will focus on the German comedy web-series MANN/FRAU (“MAN/WOMAN”).</div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>MANN/FRAU is atypical in its approach to New Queer Cinema, as the first season revolves around a heteronormative “boy-meets-girl” master narrative, which is subverted and developed into a counternarrative in the second season to explore various issues including polyamorous relationships and the view of sexuality as a spectrum. </div>

    <p>This campus celebration of achievement affirms UMBC’s commitment to the twin goals of research and a distinctive undergraduate experience.</p>
    <p>All current undergraduates who have conducted research, scholarship or creative work in the last year may apply to present their results at URCAD. Mentors, fellow students, friends, family members, high school teachers and students, graduate school recruiters, and the general public are invited to attend.</p>

    <div>Come to <strong>URCAD</strong> on <strong>Wednesday, April 26</strong> to see documentary photographer Sarah Miller and her pictures on the aftermath of the Rio Doce dam disaster.</div>
    <div><br></div>On 5 November 2015, a mine dam holding back waste water from an iron ore mine in Mariana, South-Eastern Brazil, devastating a nearby town with mudslides, killing at least 17 people, injuring more than 50 and causing an enormous ecological damage, and threatening life along the Rio Doce and the Atlantic sea near the mouth of the Rio Doce.<div><br></div>

    <span>We'd like to extend our warmest congratulations to Rosa Rada, with her degree titled in "Food Systems Policy", for accepting her offer</span><span> to join the 24th class of </span><a href="https://www.hungercenter.org/fellowships/emerson/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellows</a><span> through the </span><span><a href="https://www.hungercenter.org/about/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Congressional</a></span><a href="https://www.hungercenter.org/about/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"> Hunger Center</a><span>.
     The Emerson Fellowship is a leadership development opportunity for 
    young professionals eager to gain skills and experience in social 
    justice, anti-hunger, and anti-poverty work. </span>
    </div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>For
     the first 5 months, fellows are placed at a variety of community-based 
    organizations throughout the U.S. This is followed by 30+ days of 
    training from field and policy experts in D.C. For the remaining 5 
    months, fellows are placed at policy organizations in D.C. The 
    fellowship begins <span><span><span><span>August 22, 2017</span></span></span></span> and concludes <span><span><span><span>July 27, 2018</span></span></span></span>.</div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>In
     terms of prestige and accolades: the application process consisted of 
    multiple rounds of interviews and, in the end, 4% of applicants were 
    asked to join the program. The Congressional Hunger Center has a 
    strategic partnership with Carnegie Mellon's Heinz College, home to one 
    of the nation's top-ranked public policy schools. Through this 
    partnership, <a href="http://www.heinz.cmu.edu/financial-aid/org-based-scholarship-programs/chc/index.aspx" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">fellows are offered a 50% tuition scholarship</a>. </div>

<Title>Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement Day</Title>

    <p><strong>Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement Day (URCAD)</strong> features research, scholarship, and creative work carried out by UMBC undergraduates. Student work is shared through oral presentations, posters, artistic exhibits and performances, and film.</p>
    <p>This campus celebration of achievement affirms UMBC’s commitment to the twin goals of research and a distinctive undergraduate experience.</p>
    <p>All current undergraduates who have conducted research, scholarship or creative work in the last year may apply to present their results at URCAD. Mentors, fellow students, friends, family members, high school teachers and students, graduate school recruiters, and the general public are invited to attend.</p>
