The URA Award provides up to $1,500 to undergraduate students to support their research or creative work with a UMBC faculty mentor on an original project.   UMBC students of all years and disciplines are invited to apply, as long as they will remain enrolled at UMBC long enough to complete the proposed work.

Give yourself the chance to explore research while being paid and see what the future holds for you! 

To get started:
  1. Read about opportunities in your major. Investigate the summer programs linked to your major and pick 15 favorites.
  2. Put these workshops on your calendar  
  3. Use the advice on the same page to start getting to know your professors. You will need letters of recommendation by the end of the semester.
  4. Visit the Career Center or Shriver Center to make sure your resume is the best it can be for this purpose. 
  5. Make sure you are a member of the myUMBC group Undergraduate Research so you receive notices about application deadlines and application support.
