Hillel Global Giving Week - 2X Match Today!!

Circular photo of 4 students." style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;">

Hillel Global Giving Week has officially begun! 🎉

Today through Friday, we’re joining over 180 Hillels worldwide in raising critical funds for Jewish college students. Our community is coming together to strengthen Jewish life on campus, and thanks to a special match, your impact can go twice as far right now.

Please note: we will be sending a higher concentration of emails than usual this week for Hillel Global Giving Week. We will go back to our regular email schedule beginning net week. Thank you for understanding!

Every dollar you give will be matched up to $5,000, helping empower Jewish students at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County to build meaningful connections, grow as leaders, and celebrate their Jewish identities with pride.

Double My Impact

At UMBC Hillel, students find a place to friends as well as a home to support them through both joyful and challenging moments. Hillel is where they find belonging and explore who they are and who they want to become. Your support makes all of that possible.

Here’s what that looks like in real life:

<img src="https://mcusercontent.com/a3c681897d96fe9325bc74dc1/images/27d56e9f-e412-37f6-2d12-0b132ff9068b.png" alt="On the right, a student (Aron Olson) standing at a podium in front of a microphone. On the left, there is a quote from Aron that says “When I came to UMBC, one of the first things I looked for was the Hillel. As a Jewish student on campus, knowing who my people were and where to find them early on was of the utmost importance. Every Shabbat, every holiday, Hillel has been proactive about making sure there's food for people who need it and a welcoming community. Every week, there are events and hangouts for us students to attend and learn, study, or meet each other. I have had the honor of being a member of one of Hillel's Committees, Pomegranate, where I get to help provide community and resources for Jewish LGBTQ+ students on campus. “When I came to UMBC, one of the first things I looked for was the Hillel.
May is Jewish American Heritage Month

<Tagline>Want to know more?</Tagline>

What is Jewish American Heritage Month?
Jewish American Heritage Month is a national month of recognition of nearly four centuries of American Jewish experience. Recognized each year in the month of May by Presidential proclamation, JAHM provides an opportunity for people to learn about and appreciate Jewish heritage and reflect on the specific history and experiences of the American Jewish community, serving as antidote to antisemitism.

Who is JAHM for?
Everyone! Everyone is welcome to participate in Jewish American Heritage Month on the journey of discovery and celebration that makes American society so special.

When was Jewish American Heritage Month established?
JAHM was established in 2006 by President George W. Bush as a bipartisan effort sponsored in Congress by the late Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida. In 2018, the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History became the official convener of JAHM, responsible for staffing and organizing the month across the nation each year. Click here to learn more about JAHM’s history.

How is Jewish American Heritage Month Organized?
JAHM is organized by the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History, located on Historic Independence Mall in Philadelphia—the only national institution dedicated to exploring and interpreting the American Jewish experience. Each May, JAHM is supported by nearly 200 cultural, civic, educational, and government entities around the country who set out to celebrate the inspiring history of Jewish people in America from 1654 to the present; educate public audiences about Jewish culture; and spark crucial conversations about the American Jewish present and future.

Where can I learn more about Jewish American Heritage Month?
JewishAmericanHeritage.org is the centralized portal for JAHM, providing access to American Jewish culture, stories, and experience—and home to resources from some of the 200 partner organizations around the country.

The Library of Congress also hosts jewishheritagemonth.gov to support the federal government’s commitment to paying tribute to the generations of Jewish Americans who helped form the fabric of American history, culture, and society.
