    <div><strong>SPARK Exhibition Intern Listing</strong></div>

    <div>Seeking an Exhibition Intern to work with the Curator and Assistant Curator of the upcoming SPARK V exhibition and related programming, which presents to work of UMBC and Towson University faculty and student artists, at the Peale Museum in Baltimore from mid-January to mid-April.<br><br>This role will generally support the planning and execution of programming at the Peale Museum and, with active mentorship, take a gradually increasing leadership role in producing aspects of the SPARK exhibition that highlight UMBC and Towson University student artwork.<br><br>Ideally, this will be an internship for credit for a student with a major or minor in Art History and Museum Studies but those with other majors are welcome to apply. While not a paid position, in addition to credit, there is a $700 stipend for this role.<br><br>Candidates should be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work remotely and in person (which requires proof of vaccination and masking per Peale Museum policy.)<br><br>To be considered for this role, please email a resume and letter of interest to SPARK Curator Catherine Borg at <a href="mailto:cborg@umbc.edu" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">cborg@umbc.edu</a>.<br><br><strong>The deadline to apply is December 20.</strong>

<Title>Imagining America JOG Fellowship to Byanca Morales Cabrera</Title>
<Tagline>Tackling cultural taboos in the LatinX community</Tagline>

    <div>Please join us in congratulating Byanca Morales Cabrera who was awarded the <a href="https://imaginingamerica.org/what-we-do/fellowships/jgs-fellows/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Imagining America Joy of Giving Fellowship</a> for the 2021-2022 academic year.  A Visual Arts major in graphic design, photography, and print media, she is also a Linehan Artist Scholar class of 2024.   </div>
    <div>Byanca Morales Cabrera creates artworks with a focus on diversity and the representation of communities of color; she tackles cultural taboos specifically within the LatinX community.  Her work employs portraiture, cultural textile pattern designs, mark-making, and in the near future, she will expand her artistic practice into public art and mixed-media installations.</div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>The <a href="https://imaginingamerica.org/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Imagining America</a> JOG Fellowship provides a $2000 tuition scholarship, mentorship guidance along with financial support for a community project.   As a JOG Fellow, Byanca will receive registration and travel award to participate in the National Gathering that will take place Fall 2022.  UMBC is an active member of Imagining America and in 2015, was the co-host of the <a href="https://news.umbc.edu/umbc-hosts-2015-imagining-america-national-conference-in-partnership-with-local-communities-universities-civic-leaders/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">National Conference</a> that took place on campus and downtown Baltimore City in cooperation with MICA, Morgan State University, and Towson University. </div>

Choosing to model the environment location to be at the CASA of Maryland location, a very important organization in the immigrant community and Immigrant rights movement.     <span>The Center for Innovation, Research and Creativity in the Arts (CIRCA) and </span><a href="https://imet.usmd.edu/institute-marine-and-environmental-technology" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET)</a><span> has awarded the 2021 Faculty Artist in Residence Fellowship to Stephen Bradley. He is also the Director of the Linehan Artist Scholars Program.</span>
    </div>The award is intended to support and promote significant collaborative research in the Arts between colleagues at IMET and UMBC. <div>Steve's plans include recording underwater animals in the Inner Harbor.</div>
